Thanks for your voting!

Thanks!
Thanks!

Hi, thanks for your voting on my RFA. It has finished with the result 88/14/9, and I am promoted. I am really overwhelmed with the amount of support I have got. With some of you we have edited many articles as a team, with some I had bitter arguments in the past, some of you I consider to be living legends of Wikipedia and some nicks I in my ignorance never heard before. I love you all and I am really grateful to you.

If you feel I can help you or Wikipedia as a human, as an editor or with my newly acquired cleaning tools, then just ask and I will be happy to assist. If you will feel that I do not live up to your expectation and renegade on my promises, please contact me. Maybe it was not a malice but just ignorance or a short temper. Thank you very much, once more! abakharev 07:34, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CALUMO

I did what you said and created an article on CALUMO and then reinstated the link which you (I think) had removed. All hunky dory. But within ONE minute (I kid you not) there was a speedy delete tag on the article and now it has gone. I assure you the product is real and live and is, essentially (although perhaps SPF wouldn't want to see it phrased quite like this), SPFplus re-worked and ported to a MS platform, albeit with enhancements along the way. And that product has 200 sales and 9500 users under its belt so it does exist. CALUMO is live at roughly half a dozen sites now. But I am not employed by (or otherwise involved with) the company and so cannot vouch for the exact number. How do I go forward from here? Paul Beardsell 04:25, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Using server-side ADOMD.NET inside stored procedures. Wikiolap (talk) 06:24, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Alvarez 08:47, 14 October 2009 (UTC) : I'm not sure I understood, can you point me to an article for this ? What I wanted to say with Custom MDX functions: lets imagine a new MDX function returning the weighted average -> WAvg( {Set}, Value, Weight ). How can you define this new function in SSAS and use it in all you new MDX functions. What about performance ? -> it's the advantage of open source where you can inject your own functions directly into the server using the same language (Java/C++). I'm newby to wikipedia, sorry for the little mess

Yes you can create new MDX functions, like weigthed average which accepts set, value expression and weight expression and return number. Or it can return any MDX data type, like set or tuple. Unlike open source model you describe - this is portable, because these custom MDX functions are inside .NET assembly and can be brought from server to server. For many examples check out http://www.codeplex.com/ASStoredProcedures. Wikiolap (talk) 07:27, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Allow me to explain my edit to Template:Browser marketshare. I noticed that the median values of the chart in the article Usage share of web browsers varied widely compared to their mean values, therefore the "Other" entry's percentage is currently derived from the median values of the named browsers. Since they vary so much compared to their mean values the "Other" entry would be rendered meaningless if the medians added up to more than 100% (which they don't at present but they could). The mean values on the other hand produce an "Other" entry value that is the mean of the percentage of marketshare that is left over when you subtract the named browsers for all the sources thus giving a percentage that is always valid. If you disagree please tell me why.Thorenn (talk) 17:17, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The chart values should use the median instead of the mean. This is true for at least two reasons (1) the number of sources is small and the median is less effected by outliers (2) we have no idea how the sources created their percentages in most cases, So median results in a more accurate estimation in this case. Also the reason the median and mean where so far off was because someone messed with the numbers. I re-looked at the sources and re-calculated. The result is both the mean an median very close. Next time send me a message before you change the chart (I'm the original creator). Jdm64 (talk) 10:09, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
