The screenshot is used in the plot section of

Nonsense, as usual in this "crusade", this is a baseless, opinionated complaint that does not recognize that the photograph provides a crucial element to understanding a pivotal plot development, which is evident in the newly revised caption. The actor is not just rehearsing a speech, she is steeling herself to assassinate Hitler, awkwardly wielding a pistol, something that the Nazis who are off-screen, cannot see. There is nothing baseless or opinionated about this discussion as can be seen by the arguments I made above. "Pivotal plot development"s happen in every movie and by this standard every film article would have at least one screenshot, but the opposite is true on Wikipedia, that few film articles have screenshots that pass

The film has a pivotal moment when the lead character reveals that she has a murderous intent, which is clearly evident in pulling out a gun as she rehearses a speech she wants to deliver to Adolf Hitler. This is plainly evident in the illustration and not mentioned in the plot summary as it is a salient point that is covered by the illustration. The illustration caption does make that connection. The film, Passport to Destiny is available on many sources including the Turner Classics Movies broadcast which was originally where I saw the film. The 1944 RKO catalog, like all the period films from this studio, has not been renewed in terms of copyright status so it does fit as being in the public domain. Youtube has been removing media that has questionable status. There are many film articles with similar illustrations of plot, production or background information. The illustration was placed into Wikimedia Commons as it complies with the public domain status of a film that does not have its copyright renewed, as applies to every film from the RKO catalog of that era. If you do not feel the text covers what is shown in the image, then you should add text to the plot summary, since we do not use fair use images to show plot points per

WP:FILMNFI because there is not critical commentary of the image. There are not "many film articles with similar illustrations of plot". You cannot argue that the same image has a fair use rationale here on Wikipedia and a public domain rationale on Commons, it has to be one or the other. This image was also being used on another film article; I don't remember now which it was without any rationale. Hence the NFCC#8 reason given above. The biography article Padmini (actress) had two non-free images; incidentally both uploaded by you on same day in 2012 with rationale for use on biography page. The other image File:Padmini in payal.jpg has also now been nominated by you for deletion after this one was nominated. I had choosen this image for deletion over the other as this was being used in the film article, which was not justified. I don't know who added this image to the other two articles. I might have uploaded both files (almost five years ago) with the intent of keeping either one of them for her bio and the other one for the film article. I thought this image would serve the purpose better because this comes from a later period, as opposed to the screenshot from Payal. You still aren't getting it. All of the images are a violation of our fair use policy. It doesn't matter what you do. Just accept it. The complaint being that there were too many similar images, the images on the page are now reduced to what should be a fine amount. The resolution of the images seems perfectly satisfactory. There is no dispute that these images do not illustrate the content of the article. There is no complaint here of the images violating free use policy. There are no outstanding issues. No, the original complaint (or more accurately, the original query, brought up by me,) was that there were too many images that I thought breached the NFCC rules full stop, not specifically within that article. It was just their lumping together in an article that brought them to my attention, via the Gag article as I clarified. I'm against the image in the Gag article for slightly different reasons in that it offers nothing that isn't already shown by the other image and Ogg file - both of which are licensed under CC so are fine to use.

Removing the images doesn't mean that they no longer breach the fair use policy. An image can be in breach of the fair use policy just by existing, which is the case here. You have uploaded multiple images that are all essentially the same, and as you yourself point out removing a few of them has not detracted from the article - so what it the point of keeping them?

I'm not entirely sure how NFCC works - although I have a reasonable grasp - so I asked for more expert advice, which seems to have been provided. I'd suggest that you take that on board as well, and understand the concept of NFCC as an image, rather than as usage in an article - which is the key concept here. Delete - "Robbie duct tapes her mouth shut, and after checking that she cannot speak or scream for help" - I think we all get the picture and we don't need an actual image to illustrate this, Clicking the wikilink will bring up some lovely images so these aren't needed, I too don't have a brilliant understanding of NFCC so wont go with that however IMHO we don't need images when we have free-licensed images on the next article. –Davey2010^Talk 21:21, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
