⭠ Last week's report

Moving further into election season, celebrity deaths and new media have been largely replaced with some of the most bizarre US politics.

Rank Article Class Views Image Notes/about
1 Dil Bechara 992,310 This Indian film was released July 24; based on The Fault in Our Stars, their Ansel Elgort is played by recently-deceased actor Sushant Singh Rajput (#20). His love interest is played by Sanjana Sanghi (pictured).
2 Regis Philbin 990,535 The American television host and national treasure passed away on July 24. He spent many decades of his 88 years hosting every kind of show, holding the world record for most hours on US TV.
3 QAnon 903,777 This conspiracy is a mainstay of certain factions of Trump supporters. It is, then, talked about so much when discussing the president that everyone outside of these little groups has to come to Wikipedia to try and understand it. It's the belief that there is a covert anti-Trump group operating within the US government.

Deaths in 2020
878,394 Beyond the door there's peace I'm sure
And I know there'll be no more tears in heaven
5 Alexander Hamilton 812,860 Founding Father, subject of #19, was a great writer of his time. He was White Caribbean, but is nowadays probably more recognizable as Puerto Rican thanks to musical role originator Lin-Manuel Miranda.
6
John Lewis (civil rights leader)
769,352 The Freedom Rider died last week; the continued article views may be because the news is now making it to other parts of the world, where he wasn't known.
7 COVID-19 pandemic 731,002 This report would've probably been heavy on the leaders, whose supporters are probably making things worse.
8 Folklore (Taylor Swift album) 695,294 The pandemic prevented musicians from touring, but not recording. A great example of this can be seen in how Taylor Swift took the postponement of her
Lover Fest
by doing a whole album in isolation, which was revealed only 16 hours before its release. Reviews are saying it may be her best album yet, which shows what can happen when you actually lock one of the 21st century's greatest songwriters at home for a few months.
9 Jeffrey Epstein 667,797 Though she's now missing from the list, Epstein's (perhaps literal) partner-in-crime Ghislaine Maxwell was recently arrested. The news this week is that she's being moved from cell to cell while in custody to prevent any assassination attempt.
10 Cursed (2020 TV series) 609,204 Netflix continues to hold strong here, especially in these days of #7. This time it's an adaptation of a
Arthurian legend through the eyes of Nimue as the Lady of the Lake - portrayed by Katherine Langford (pictured), who owes her career to another Netflix show
.
11 The Horror Show at Extreme Rules 596,558 WWE continues to hold behind closed doors events in Florida.
12 The Old Guard (2020 film) 584,288 Netflix's movie about immortal mercenaries fighting to survive, in a world with the darkest powers - while not eschewing the downside "Who Wants to Live Forever?" part of immortality. Given it's based on a comic book and ends on a sequel hook, expect follow-ups when the film industry can work again.
13 Ted Yoho 581,290 One of Florida's representatives got into a heated exchange with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (#17) that included him using the term "fucking bitch". Backlash ensued, including Yoho being expelled from a non-profit organization he was a part of.
14 Kanye West 551,786 What a world we're living in, where Yeezy (who once claimed that
a presidential campaign! Which he announced, then withdrew, then announced again. He is still telling people not to vote for him, and managed to upset his wife
on Twitter with his new joint venture: entering the bizarro-verse with #23 by insulting #22.
15 Ghost of Tsushima 546,347 The latest big PlayStation 4 exclusive, developed by Sucker Punch Productions of Sly Cooper and Infamous fame, and following a Samurai fighting invading Mongols.
16 Michael Jordan 539,767
The Last Dance
had been internationally available on Netflix at the same time it aired on the American ESPN; this week, the streaming service put up stateside the docuseries on the greatest basketball player ever in his last season with the Chicago Bulls.
17 Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez 524,819 One of the rising figures in American politics made public comments that an increase of crime in New York City was due to the high rise in poverty. This led to a public spat with #13. Elsewhere recently, she has appeared on Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj and been consistent in calling out ... everything?
18 Pizzagate conspiracy theory 511,153 This conspiracy theory about some vaguely Hillary Clinton-neighboring child sex ring in a pizza place is still being considered by some (possibly the people who came up with #3).
19 Hamilton (musical) 490,028 Telling the story of #5 (abridged version), this musical got a Broadway recording release at the start of the month and doesn't look to be slowing down. Bye bye, bootlegs!
20 Sushant Singh Rajput 464,588 The young Indian actor took his own life a few weeks ago, and reappears on the list with the release of his first posthumous movie (#1).
21 Roy Jones Jr. 456,381 A very successful boxer, who managed to be world champion in categories from Middleweight to Heavyweight, and has continued to fight in the 2010s even as he approached 50, Jones decided to take on someone in his age range and legendary status: Mike Tyson! The bout is scheduled for September 12 in Los Angeles.
22 Harriet Tubman 454,932 This week, #14 held a campaign rally, despite #7 making that not advisable, and insulted Tubman while he was at it. If you've studied history, you'll recall that Tubman did the Underground Railroad thing that helped free a lot of plantation slaves. West said she, er, "never actually freed the slaves, she just had them work for other white people". People took issue with that.
23 Elon Musk 443,881 The lawsuit put by
his wife
for that mess.
And obviously depending on who you follow on Twitter, Heard is either being dragged based on Depp's testimony that she abused him, or sympathized with by those who believe her. Who knew they split fans in the divorce.
24 Amber Heard 438,179
25
C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE)
435,256 The big shiny thing in the sky is no longer visible in the United States. Other countries do exist, and parts of Eurasia can still see it.
