Anamoose was established along the main line of the Soo Line Railroad in 1898 by Romanians who had come from Saskatchewan, Canada. The name is a corruption of the Chippewa word uhnemoosh, which means "female dog."^[5]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.62 square miles (1.61 km²), of which 0.61 square miles (1.58 km²) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km²) is water.^[6]
