Hi. In following directions for starting new current events pages, as I understand them, the idea is to first "move" the current events for the past month to a new page and then remove the resulting redirect from the "old" page to start the "new" page. The idea being that any talk about that month's current events would be retained with its page. In the most recent case, June 2006 in Southeast Asia, I was coming across a double set of redirects. • I don't understand how the portals work. Looks like more maintenance, more hassle. Other than conformity and uniformity, what are the advantages of the portal layout? I want to hear more from other contributors on this, because I can't do this by myself. Wisekwai 07:56, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've made several changes to the portal page to make it more in line with Portal:Current events, in terms of maintenance. I also asked Lightdarkness to update LDBot to automatically create the date subpages (like with Portal:Current events). However, I'm trying to figure out where that whitespace at the top of the portal pages are. I just can't find it. -- tariqabjotu 15:22, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kudos for the extensive help rendered! Still wondering how to get that portal box to appear correctly thou...(the one at the top of Portal:Southeast_Asia/News_Sidebar. I propose that Highlights be changed to "In the news" and leave the month out of it. The archive pages could say Highlights in ... But right now the events under the heading Highlights in September actually happened in August, and this problem is going to happen every month.
