Tyrannidae, the tyrant flycatchers
. It is a breeding
austral winter and is also found in northeast border regions Bolivia and southern Venezuela
during its wintering. Its natural
montane forests
.

A molecular genetic study published in 2020 found that the rufous-tailed attila is

sister to the cinnamon attila (Attila cinnamomeus).[2]
