Eugene Correa (born April 22, 1993) is an American professional

mixed martial artist, out of Long Beach, California. Eugene currently holds one of the quickest submission finishes in MMA coming in at :10 seconds. As a professional, Eugene has competed with UFC Fight Pass Bellator[2], Ju-Jitsu International Federation[3], California Cage Wars, and Smash Global
.

Background

Eugene is the son of Mexican Immigrants that arrived to Long Beach, California in the early 1980s. Eugene's professional career started as a 9-year-old child. Training Kenpo Karate under a black belt Native American master in Five Acres[4] an orphanage and group home in downtown Los Angeles. Eugene grew up in the foster care system in California and lived as a child in various foster homes within the Los Angeles County, including Huntington Park and Pico Rivera but was born and raised primarily in Long Beach, California.

Eugene graduated from Millikan High School in 2011, where he excelled at various sports including track, soccer. Eugene continued his academic journey in Long Beach City College[5] and in California State University Dominguez Hills where Eugene received his trainer certification under world instructor training schools. Eugene started his own business and is the founder of Correa MMA.

Eugene is an Americana tour "5 Grappling League 2019" champion (

blue belt. He is a 10th planet Long Beach blue belt under Chai Sirisute JR as well purple belt under street sports BBJ
Santa Monica Renato Magno with 11+ years in grappling. Eugene's fighting career has been predominantly under the coaching of Antonio Mckee and former Bellator's Light Heavyweight World Champion, Emanuel Newton.

Eugene's story has been recognized by journalist and has recently been published by La Opinión[7], a Spanish-language daily newspaper based in Los Angeles, California.

Early career

Early in his career Eugene compiled an amateur record of 4-2, competing during this phase with several promotions including Gladiator Challenge, Get Down Fights 20, and Knockout MMA. He began his martial arts journey under KHMER kickboxing Master Oumry Ban[8]

Personal life

Eugene is the son of two

detention centers[9] and mental health hospitals, in total relocating more than fifteen times. Eugene faced a series of unfortunate events including being physically and mentally abused during his stay at some of these foster homes. Due to his rough upbringing, Eugene got involved in mixed martial arts[10] and decided to start his own business to empower others to learn how to defend
themselves.
