Strongly Support The two examples named by user 'In ictu oculi'are two differing free translations of the title, only supporting the claim that one definitive translation does not exist. Next to that, 'A Village Performance of Hamlet' is the only grammatically correct of the two. There is no such thing as 'Acting Hamlet,' that is an ungrammatical literal translation. The movie, like the play, is commonly known and referred to as Hamlet in the Village of Mrdusa Donja. • Comment - While I can't say anything about how this work's title should be translated from Croatian to English, I can say that to me "Acting Hamlet in the Village of Mrdusa Donja" scans as being an article about a hamlet called "Acting" located in a village called Mrdusa Donja. Indeed, it is the most faithful translation which makes it clear that "Hamlet" - being a "performance" or a "show" (which is what predstava means in Croatian) - refers to the play and not its protagonist. This is also relevant because the film's plot actually revolves around what this title describes (i.e. an amateur performance of the Shakespeare's play in a Dalmatian village).
