Manchester United have agreed a fee with Cardiff for the transfer of Aaron Ramsey.

The 17-year-old Wales international will now discuss personal terms and undergo a medical with the Premier League and European champions.

A short statement on United's official website read: "Manchester United is delighted to announce it has agreed terms with Cardiff City for the transfer of Aaron Ramsey subject to terms being agreed and the player passing a medical." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bigman1972 (talkcontribs) 13:25, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also should his move to Man U put the artciale up an importance level? Thanks Bigman1972 (talk) 13:28, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Move to Man U

Is not yet a done deal. I'm removing them from the club list 80.195.80.148 (talk) 19:29, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible interest from them and 'another club thought to be Arsenal' is also speculation, and not notable. lots of clubs are interested in lots of players, but unless they sign it is just another job interview - if they even get as far as that.--ClubOranjeTalk 10:26, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An iminent transfer from Cardiff, with fees agreed with Manchester United, a fairly notable club you might say.Londo06 10:35, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed transfer to Arsenal

Everton FC[1]
. The transfer is expected to be completed within the coming days.

refernce is needed about the 'three year contract' or it should be removed. This seems an unlikely contract length especially given the transfer fee. I would expect it's a 5 year contract at least. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.152.250.153 (talk) 07:22, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations,

Petulant sarcasm doesn't really work when you apply it in a stupid way. Surely WP:CRYSTAL doesn't apply on idle discussion on talk pages (unless the purpose of talk pages has changed dramatically since I joined 5 years ago -_-). ugen64 (talk) 16:30, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Congrats on your five year tenure. Let me know the date, I'll get you a present. Minkythecat (talk) 17:08, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It should be changed to 'long term contract' as that is what the Arsenal website says Red&White4life —Preceding unsigned comment added by Red&White4life (talkcontribs) 16:13, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, the BBC also describes it as "a long-term deal." GiantSnowman 17:43, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

England?

what's this england bit for? based upon club going to move to or nationality? If the latter you've made a mistake, he's welsh. Minkythecat (talk) 18:39, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's there as it represents the article is under the scope of the England task force, which one of the requirements is "Players and managers that are English, or have played for an English club." - but, that could be disputed as Cardiff City isn't exactly an English club. As he has played in the Championship, I'd say he still merits being under the task force. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:43, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that's interesting. If there was a Wales Task force, how would that work? He's obviously Welsh, so two different groups would thus be able to claim control? How would that also work for other nations also? Could end up a complete mess. Minkythecat (talk) 18:45, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As he's Welsh, he'd be flagged up on a Wales task force too if one existed - they can coincide. For example, see Talk:Giovani dos Santos. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:47, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lede

I think it should be included in the lede, next to where it says he is a Welsh international, that he captained the team for a short spell, and maybe even include the information regarding him being the youngest Welsh player to see the field. That seems like important enough information to me to be included up there. Let me know what you all think. Adamh4 (talk) 15:06, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Should the Aaron Ramsey myth have it's own page?

I really think the Aaron Ramsey myth (where it mentions that when he scores or something amazing happens to him, a famous person dies) should have it's own page since it would be more relevant to both urban legends (along with the category) and Aaron Ramsey himself. --73.240.105.185 (talk) 23:58, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 1 July 2017: IP made a good faith edit

I have carefully examined the page and found four errors. An IP username made an edit[1] in June. The IP removed a link to Stoke City as that was an overlink because there was one found earlier on. The 2016–17 section, the IP user correctly fixed the score formatting but someone has removed that so it reads incorrect display (2-1 and 3-2). Finally the following website[2] still exits and should not have the deadurl(equals)yes lurking in the code.

A side issue: The equals sign when previewed does not show the text so I had to make amendments such that (equals) is actually the equals sign 86.180.71.179 (talk) 07:17, 1 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this is untrue:

He would receive £400,000 a week making him the highest-earning British player ever based on basic salary.[103][105]

Ramsey might be second but Gareth Bale is paid significantly more at Real Madrid, usually reported as £350k per week NET (the top rate of tax in Spain is 45% so this means his gross salary is £636k per week as per this Guardian article).

Not done: I agree Bale's pre-tax or total gross wages are higher, but the BBC link currently cited on this article, very clearly says that Ramsey's wages, based on pre-tax "basic" component of gross is 400k and higher than any other British player. Basic wages are only a part of total gross. Change the |answered= to no, if you find an issue. - hako9 (talk) 23:05, 3 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
