  • ... that Aaron Stark's life may have been saved by a friend inviting him in for blueberry pie? Source: "'I almost became a school shooter - this is what stopped me'". The Independent. 2018-02-22. Retrieved 2022-12-07.

  • welcome to dyk, Bremps!
    • general: article is new enough and long enough.
    • policy: article is sourced and neutral. although the article covers a lot of negative aspects of stark's life, the negative aspects are the point of the article, and the details have generally been described by stark himself.
    • qpq: not required.
    • hooks: hook is under 200 characters, interesting, accurate, cited, and neutral. technically, the article does not mention that his friend invited him in, but the cited source mentions that he was "invited ... over for a party", and i think this hook is close enough to the statement in the article to pass.
    • points outside of the dyk criteria:
      • the cited independent source quotes stark describing the pie as a "blueberry-peach pie". was describing it as a "blueberry pie" in the hook deliberate? i'd consider a blueberry-peach pie to be a type of blueberry pie, so i'd still consider the hook to be accurate. i only mention it because i was unsure if the omission was accidental or deliberate; it was mentioned in the article. i don't have a preference either way. (by the way, although
        mos:enbetween
suggests using an en dash for "separate and independent elements", i am assuming that the pie mixed the blueberries and peaches together.)
      • is the "due" in "cutting himself due at the age of 14 or 15" a stray word, or perhaps a part of an incomplete phrase?
      • the cited washington post and newsy sources do not appear to mention the time stark's mother was at the meeting when he sought mental help. is there another source that makes it clear that the time he was refused inpatient care was different from the time his mother was present?

        • Hello dying, thanks for the advice. I changed the article a bit based on it. I'm a bit new to DYK, so could you please clarify if this article is fully approved (as in it's ready to go on the front page)? Thanks! Bremps
          • yep, Bremps, this was a full review, and the check mark above indicates that the nomination has my approval. you can see that your nomination now appears on the page of approved dyk hooks here. your hook is now waiting to be placed in the queue for the main page. it will still be reviewed by other editors before it actually appears on the main page, but if there are any further changes, they are likely to be minor, unless someone raises a serious issue that neither of us noticed.
my other comments were simply suggestions for improvement that are not necessary for being approved at dyk, though i do appreciate you having already addressed them. i was admittedly fairly impressed that there weren't really any significant issues with the first dyk nomination of a comparatively new account; i still make stupid mistakes in my dyk nominations.
anyway, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. by the way, happy first first edit day! dying (talk) 04:44, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
          • Thank you! have a nice day/night. Bremps

Hello dying, sorry to bother you again. About when can I expect my article to be reviewed again and promoted? Thanks! Bremps 22:39, 16 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bremps, don't worry about bothering me. happy to help someone new to the process.
for the past few months, dyk has posted, on average, about twelve hooks a day, so a rough way to estimate how long it will take for your hook to be placed in the queue is to count the number of nominations in this chart for articles created or improved before your article was created, and then divide by twelve. using this method, i estimate that it will take roughly 15 days for your hook to be promoted. that being said, the actual time it will take can greatly vary; i approved this nomination on thursday, and it was promoted about 13 hours later. once your hook gets promoted, you can see when the hook will be scheduled to appear on the main page here.
anyway, let me know if you have any other questions. hope this helps! dying (talk) 02:19, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
