Lastest Edit and Removal Of Orthodox Jews, Gays, Gaza Strip, Foxman Relations

I have two suggestions. Number one, if you add anything to any article please make sure to back it up with as many references as possible. Number two, if someone is too lazy to add the references don't go around and assume that the new content should just be deleted. With Google only a second away you can find all sorts of sources for filling in the blanks and making an article more complete. Do not let the laziness of the original editor force upon us a spirit of trimming down entries on Wikipedia. Instead, I suggest you add a comment to the user page of any member that forgets to cite his sources to request that such action be taken in the future. This is a biography of a living person, so in the event of a lack of a source for a statement, the proper action IS to delete the info. I agree a search should then be made and the info reintroduced if there is a source. Basejumper2 08:17, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the photo that User:Molloy is attempting to add: regardless of copyright status, there's no particular reason to tolerate any contributions to Jewish topics by Nazis. Well, the photo seemed when I first saw it to be unfortunate; discovering its origin tends to suggest that it's not unfortunate at all, but deliberately offensive.

Any evidence that the person described in the link provided by jpgordon is User:Molloy? After all, whats in a name? Regardless, a photo of Mr. Foxman would help the article. I uploaded a photo from the ADL website on the grounds that it likely qualifies for fair use. If I failed to follow the guidelines, please chastise me and delete it. I suspect that no one would have a problem with creating a section or listing under "Criticisms" the many odd statements that Mr. Foxman has made over the years? The section would be extremely long and easy to give sources. It would infuriate all aboard wiki. It would be erased. Forget it.

Go ahead and do it. Wikipedia should never be stopped due to the wants of one particular group to control justified criticism. We can no longer bow down to the oppressive control of certain religious lobbies. If this were about scientologists, muslims, or even catholics would anyone need to ask before posting comments made by a hateful man? NO! Removing JPFO "controversy"

The differences of opinion between ADL and JPFO seem ill-suited for the controversies section. The quotations provided point to a perpetual disagreement between the two associations rather than any particular controversial episode. To include JPFO would suggest that any group which conflicts with the ADL (and by extension, its director) should likewise be included. Furthermore, this conflict is sufficiently covered in the main JPFO article. Finally, the generous use of JPFO PoV quotations, such as "ADL Support Nazi-Based Laws" and "JPFO Facts vs. ADL Lies," fails to contribute to this sensitive article becoming more NPOV. Armenian Genocide controversy

The references link point to Foxman's disagreement with a congressional resolution, NOT a denial of the Armenian Genocide. The quotation included articulates his position that a reexamination of history by the Turks is warranted, but that the U.S. should remain uninvolved. Later articles also cited include Foxman's recognition of the Armenian genocide, but continue to oppose congressional intervention. - CheshireKatz 17:40, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Abe Foxman was famously denying the Armenian Genocide (also known as the "Armenian holocaust") right up until August 2007, when he fired one of his regional organisers, Andrew H Tarsy over the issue. Tarsy had publicly defended the ADL position on Tuesday, but on Thursday told Abraham Foxman that he found the ADL's stance "morally indefensible" and on Friday was sacked. 5 days later, on the 22nd, the ADL reversed its position, Foxman saying "So if that word [genocide] brings the community together, that's fine". People have been convicted in France over this denial. It's not a prosecutable offense in the US (but then neither was David Irving).
Less well known and sourced, I note that pro-Zionist Christopher Hitchens claims that Foxman was a leading mourner at the funeral of Meir Kahane - if he's really associated with this level of terrorist extremism, there needs to be some mention. PRtalk 14:23, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Marc Rich

In recent years he has become a controversial figure because of his central role in winning a

presidential pardon from former United States President Bill Clinton for Marc Rich, the international businessman who gave $250,000 to the ADL while Foxman worked for his pardon.[1]

Controversial quote

I found a quote which indicates that Foxman believes in the Church theory, the idea that the Church was both directly and indirectly responsible for the Holocaust, to a point where it is almost on par with the Nazi Party, acting together with the Third Reich government in what amounts to a revived Holy Roman Empire. "Convert"?

An editor is trying to insert information that labels Foxman a convert to Judaism. I believe this is incorrect as he was born into am yisrael (the Jewish people) and did not freely convert to Catholicism, thus no conversion back to Judaism was required. --Goodmorningworld (talk) 22:15, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ground zero temple

Something should be written about his, and his origination's, controversial stance on the proposed building of an islamic cultural center several blocks away from where the twin towers in New York had been. This puts him in quite a fringe place, as even fellow pro-Israel commentators such as Alan Dershowitz have criticized his stance http://www.huffingtonpost.com/alan-dershowitz/anti-defamation-league-sh_b_667478.html. He is plainly advocating for religious discrimination against Muslims in the United States, and many are criticizing him and his organization as racist because of it. Holocaust survivor?

The opening claims him to be a holocaust survivor but there is nothing in the article indicating such a thing. Typically saying someone is a survivor of the holocaust means that they were imprisoned at an internment camp at one point. Infact it doesn't even sound like he ever lived in German controlled territory during that period let alone having any specific connection the holocaust.

I came here to say the same thing. What exactly counts as a holocaust survivor? In my mind, that term refers to someone who was in the camps. He does appear to have lived in Nazi controlled territory for some period. It says his parents were sent to a ghetto, which could possibly make them holocaust survivors (it doesn't say they were in camps). - Matthew238 (talk) 13:21, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Compensation for work with the ADL

Looking at the IRS 990 tax disclosures, available at the

GuideStar website, it appears Foxman was compensated over $344,140 in 2011 and $1,866,965 in 2012 for his work with the ADL. The 2012 salary looks like a typo it is so large for a non-profit salary.
