"Wife Beware" might well be 1932's "Two White Arms" (also released as "Wives Beware", according to IMDB)... TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 11:55, 2 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of information on Menjou's politcal belefs

An editor has taken it upon themselves to delete sourced information on Menjou's politcal beliefs. This editor has cited this information to be "contentious," and while I recognize that may be so, that does not merit it's exclusion from a biographical entry. If an editor feels information is inaccurate or false, they should provide their own sources to substantiate this. An editor does not have the unilateral privilege of removing legitimate, referenced material which they themselves "don't like"...find unpalatable. I have restored deleted material. First of all, the policy is
WP:BRD
not BRRD. You have no more right to have whatever you want in the article than I.
You changed the section title from "McCarthy Era" to "Political Beliefs", with its implication of insight into the entirety of the man's politics, when citing as a source one page of a biography of Barbara Stanwyck. Then there was your insertion of "staunch" before Republican, without there being any definition of what that meant. Next was the description of Menjou's rejection of Roosevelt's attitude toward charity, which even you finally decided was over the top. Finally was the lurid quote about stashing his gold, which makes him seem crazed.
I may be able to get my hands on a copy of the Stanwyck bio. Even if I don't, look for some edits tending toward what I consider balance, and a more moderate, and less lurid and gossipy, tone. Dhtwiki (talk) 06:10, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The reference to the Menjou-Katherine Hepburn political beliefs spat is wrong in attributing any of this to the McCarthy hearings, If by McCarthy they mean the senator from Wisconsin. Sen. McCarthy never investigated Hollywood. It was the House Un-American Activities Committee that investigated Hollywood in 1947-48, when the Memjou-Hepburn starrer State Of The Union was in production.
