No idea what this sentence means: "The constancy of rocks featured in the many attempts undertaken to immobilize wastes". Can someone who does make it clearer? Lou.weird 16:10, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done. "Constancy" = constant nature = unchanging = chemically inert. "featured" = "was significant in". "immobilize wastes" = deal with chemical/radioactive waste products in such a way that they'll stay in one spot instead of spreading throughout the ecosystem. The article currently features this quote:

Future macro-engineering of the Earth may involve the total envelopment of the planet with, among other materials, concrete.[6]

How nice that there's a cited source, but this idea is pure batshit insanity.

Whoever wrote this has absolutely no understanding of how life on Earth works. The oceans need sunlight. Crops and trees need soil. Animals and human beings alike psychologically need wide open undeveloped spaces.

This quote has no place in an encyclopedia, IMHO. But since it's cited, I'm raising the issue here to gather perspectives before deleting it.
