This page is of two minds . . .

While there has been no recent talk on this article for quite a while, I believe it is time to fix a serious problem here: this article mixes Nuclear Power and Nuclear Weapons freely with an intent to heavy negative bias the information by equating power generation with weapons. These are COMPLETELY different applications of the same physics. As an example - despite the combustion physics similarities, kerosene for heating and kerosene for ballistic missile propellants are also completely different applications.

Basically, the discussion about nuclear power in the US is not at all concerned with the proliferation of nuclear weapons. Likewise, the discussion about nuclear weapons has nothing to do with nuclear power generation - the US has specific facilities that generate material for nuclear weapons. Sure there will be those that do not see the difference, but that is a vocal minority with their own agenda that is outside of this conversation that should rely on facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Drmassey (talk • contribs) 08:59, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The focus of this page is the anti-nuclear movement, which is a social movement, which are mainly studied in the scholarly field of sociology. So the article is mainly about social, policy and people issues -- about groups and members of groups. Many of these anti-nuclear groups and anti-nuclear advocates simultaneously oppose nuclear power, nuclear weapons, and often uranium mining. Johnfos (talk) 12:05, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nevertheless, is it not better to know which of the people and organizations, if any, and when, oppose one or the other of these widely differing applications of nuclear energy? I will reveal my bias as to why I desire to know this. I consider nuclear power to be the ONLY alternative that can cure global warming. So I consider anti-nuclear-power to be anti-environmentalist. Which Came First?

I had presumed, as an opponent of nuclear weapons, that the opposition to nuclear power was an illegitimate offspring of the anti-weapons movement. The article seems to imply, or in fact explicitly states, that the nuclear freeze movement was later than opposition to nuclear power. Linus Pauling was indeed a splendid activist against weapons, but I do not recall, as an admirer of him, seeing anything written by him against nuclear power. This of course is in stark contrast to Helen Caldicott and Amory Lovins. DaveyHume (talk) 21:13, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
