'Bicycle Face' myth

For those considering adding material on 'bicycle face', please check your sources thoroughly and see if they're using any primary sources at all or otherwise engaged in research malpractice such as grotesquely misquoting them; most existing resources do. --Gwern (contribs) 23:13 10 November 2014 (GMT)

condition or mindset?

seems from the art that B face is not a physical condition, rather some term with the meaning "what 19 cen drawbacks came up to call the overall phenomena of women using bycles (and boo about)". it is still foggy though. and B face listed in the "medical cocerns" section of the "outline of bycicling" article doesnt work toward clarification either. 176.63.176.112 (talk) 20:52, 17 February 2017 (UTC).[reply]

Security vs Safety for female cyclists

I am not a native English speaker and wondering about the usage of the words "safe" and "safety" regarding solo female cyclists while meaning the prevention of criminal acts. I always thought that security is the correct word for that issue.--Geysirhead (talk) 17:30, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's a good point. "Safety" is often used, as in the title of one of the articles cited, "Is It Safe For Women To Go Bicycle Touring Alone?". Carbon Caryatid (talk) 17:54, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

The result of this discussion was not to merge. Chidgk1 (talk) 10:42, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@PetarM @Bookku @Michaelmalak @Morten7an

I propose merging

Islamic bicycle into Bicycling and feminism. As you can see at Talk:Islamic bicycle
in 2018 some people discussed renaming it but did not do so. I think renaming such a small article is pointless as it is very unlikely to be significantly expanded. As you can see my recent proposal to delete the article was rejected.

Merging here would make the content more likely to be corrected, deleted or expanded as you wish, as it would be seen by more editors I guess. Chidgk1 (talk) 07:23, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose As I showed in the AfD, there are plenty of sources available on the subject for there to be expansion of the existing article.

Merging here would be reducing it to just a single sentence mention. SilverserenC 07:42, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did not suggest reducing it to a single sentence Chidgk1 (talk) 07:50, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I would Oppose, i dont see them so relevant. Feminism and cycling in Islam should stay on seperate articles. --Petar Milošević (talk) 10:19, 2 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose
  • Within 42 minutes of
    WP:IDONTLIKEIT
?), without any discussion at related article's talk page sounds unfair to me.
  • Does every thing, (every notable cycling event) related to women and women's rights belong to feminism? Can we cover Sexism against women cyclists in France under present 'Bicycling and feminism' title I am not sure. May be there is need for expanding scope of this 'Bicycling and feminism' title itself.
  • When both articles have chance to expand by covering available significant coverage, instead of working on expansion wasting user time by initiating repeat discussion does not sound to be good idea. I suggest OP drop this unhelpful idea and let other users discuss renaming @ Talk:Islamic bicycle.
Bookku (talk) 16:07, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Renaming has been discussed since 2018. If you actually want to rename the article please do so. Chidgk1 (talk) 10:40, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
