Notes/Citations

In the Notes section, there are several citations of McCullough with pages listed but no source text listed. What book are these notes citing?

See notes 13-16, 18, 46, 48-52.

Historical Interpretations

Regarding the discussion of whether Sumner's passed law allowed or prohibited Mongolians to become naturalized, I find it hard to believe that a senator who tried repeatedly to strike the word "White" from naturalization laws would have attempted to bar anyone. "White slavery in the Barbary states"

He published the book with the title shown above. This is shown here White slavery in the Barbary states : a lecture before the Boston Mercantile Library Association, Feb. 17, 1847 : Sumner, Charles, 1811-1874 : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive.

I believe it should be mentioned in the article. WordsAreNotViolence (talk) 01:21, 25 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
