US Viewership

I think US viewers part of the Episodes segment should be removed. The show is a Netflix original series, so much like every other Netflix series, we will never have a US viewer number or a ratings for the show, because it is an online platform and Netflix do not reveal viewership. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.19.44.57 (talk) 12:43, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of reality television programs with LGBT cast members

Someone paying attention to the cast members should update List of reality television programs with LGBT cast members (with citations as to how they identify). Is Johnson the only main character who openly has spoken publicly as identifying as LGBT? Is it worth adding Pierce, Jackson, Robbie & Neil, etc., even though they are only in a few episodes?

PS Also, this show is really about Justin Johnson; I find it strange that summaries include statements like Alyssa visits his childhood home while on the journey of buying his own house when Johnson visited his home out of drag. Thoughts on this?

I think we should keep focus on Johnson and not other cast members. I agree re: reference to Alyssa vs. Johnson. ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:30, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I just wasn't sure if any of the other main cast members explicitly identified as LGBT; it wasn't something I paid attention to. I'm also not sure by what metric people are considered "Cast", while we're on that topic. Like the manager Dawn, to me, seems to be a bigger cast member than the designers Robbie and Neil. Gabe, who makes the elite team, moreso than Athena, who didn't. Are these based on the credits or what? What is the "cast" for a reality show? Umimmak (talk) 04:57, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
There's no actual credits, but they are named during the confessionals they have which is what I think we should go on. Probably important to note appearances from Shangela and Laganja too seeing as they're fairly prominent and well known figures in the LGBTQ community. I'm not sure I understand; you're not saying that everyone with a chyron should be listed, right? Or should they be and just have like "main cast" those who appear in more than one episode? Umimmak (talk) 09:02, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No thats what I'm saying. If they're introduced and have separate confessionals there shouldn't be a reason they're not listed. There is no "main cast" other than Alyssa so none should be listed as such. Brocicle (talk) 10:22, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
there shouldn't be a reason they're not listed -- well, I disagree on this; I don't think every person who appears in the series is notable enough for inclusion. Like, there's no need to mention the random guy Johnson goes on a date with in one episode. But if we are going to include every person, then we should include every person, or at least note the cast list is incomplete. I also think there should be some structure even if there isn't a "main cast" in the credits. I'm not sure the best way for that. Like, should the parents be listed near their children? Or should all dancers be in a group distinct from all the parents? Should people who make the team be separated out? What about separate sections for age groups? If this is just going to be an indiscriminate list of every person who appears throughout the entire docuseries, there needs to be a lot more structure than just "Students" and Non-Students, I think. Umimmak (talk) 15:19, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Well the guy Alyssa had a date with didn't have a confessional so I agree he shouldn't be listed. I'm not saying list every person who appears, I'm saying those who have had been given confessionals should be listed, which they pretty much already are minus like 1 or 2 people. Brocicle (talk) 00:55, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
minus like 1 or 2 people there's definitely more than that, all the parents for one, Dawn, Celeste, Gabe, JJ, Riley, Makenna, Brooke, etc. And if it's based on confessionals, then why are Robbie and Neil there? I don't recall them having confessionals. Do names need citations for episodes whose confessionals they appear in? (Plus, it's weird to have Laganja and Shangela in the top in a separate section with the main character just because they're well-known when I don't recall them having confessionals either then.) I think you're reading way too much into this honestly. Just change what you think is necessary or make a draft in the sandbox and ask for opinions. Not every edit you make on Wikipedia needs to be discussed in great detail. Unless there's a disagreement over edits that have already been made this entire discussion was probably unnecessary at this point in time. Brocicle (talk) 05:38, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Well I'd rather not go through the process of rewatching it paying attention to who has confessionals / chyrons just to be told later that there isn't consensus for how docuseries have their cast lists determined for Wikipedia articles. Umimmak (talk) 06:25, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
