RIP Gloria?

According to the news recently, the actress Gloria Stuart is dead. Shouldn't she be added to the list? -- 92.8.198.249 (talk) 19:04, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gloria Stuart died on September 26 and is listed here. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 19:13, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Bosley is best known for Fiorello!??

I mean, yeah, he originated the role, but c'mon... freshacconci talktalk 23:05, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I also don't understand why the Wait Till Your Father Gets Home voice role has been repeatedly added. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 21:55, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Leigh Van Valen

The article on Leigh Van Valen states that he died on October 16. No reliable sources have been given. A google search throws up numerous blog posts reporting his death but nothing from a "reliable" source. It seems pretty clear that he has died as the blog posts are coming from acquaintances (although some of this may be circular) but without confirmation, he does not appear he can be listed here. Thoughts? -- Mattinbgn (talk) 22:03, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, we are neither a news service, nor an obituary page. My understanding is that if there is no
reliable source, then we do not 'report' it. I notice the whole article is deviod of sources, which might throw into question all 'statements' in his piece. If he is/was that notable, then something of substance should turn up. We have no need to rush - we are not Reuters, nor the BBC
- et al.

Many thanks for the patronising attitude Derek, very helpful. Hope it made your day. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 23:22, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graham Crowden

The source provided for his death is only available to subscribers only (which I am not). Is this allowed? As of now, I am not seeing any news articles when I search his death via Google news, not even the inaccessible one that is listed here. BurienBomber (talk) 00:46, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Although there's nothing technically wrong with using a pay-per-view source (assuming of course that it meets
WP:RS), it is preferable to have an equivalent free source if possible. I have replaced the Times paywalled reference with a BBC News article that does not require a registration fee. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 13:38, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply

Ari Up

Why is her entry being submitted by her first name, (i know it's a stage name), but since there's a second part, she should be submitted under U not A. Rusted AutoParts (talk) 12:30 22 October 2010 (UTC)

The stage name is "Ari Up", not Ari (given name) Up (surname). Since there is no surname, listing under 'A' is the correct format. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 15:40, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is it generally accepted for animals to have the recent death tag on their articles as well? It just seems really strange to me, especially considering the octopus died of natural causes, he wasn't murdered by a bitter soccer fan or anything. 24.189.87.160 (talk) 04:26, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's standard form. Deaths of famous racehorses, for example, are routinely added. And Introducing... A Leg (talk) 07:14, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's not like a lot of us are in favor of having animals listed here, it's just that there are some die hard fanatics that make it hard to change without a long drawn out editing war. Williamb (talk) 08:08, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please speak only for yourself. I suggest that Paul was more notable and more widely-known than many of the "redlinks" on the same page. Oh, and a "long drawn out editing war" is against Wikipedia policy. WWGB (talk) 10:40, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Eevery time there's a discussion on it, those in favour of including animals are in the majority. That's why it's policy. Bretonbanquet (talk) 11:17, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have noted citizenship as per the norm and noted residency, If he was also a German citizen feel free to allude to the dual nationality.--Wintonian (talk) 19:52, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He wasn't German because he didn't satisfy the 3 year residency rule, he was on a work visa to germany...oh lol....why are we fighting over my dinner anyways? hehe ..--Stemoc (talk) 02:14, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
