Neither Rodríguez nor any other Venezuelan government official is target of international sanctions, as the article claims. She is the target of sanctions by specific states (mainly the US and the European Union). Calling those sanctions "international" is misleading. There are no UN sanctions on Venezuela, and in fact most of the world doesn't sanction Venezuela. The sanctions that Venezuela is target to are sanctions by the United States, the European Union and some other individual countries. That is far from "international sanctions" by any definition of the term. The US and the EU are not synonymous with the international community. Hence, the sentence should be changed to something more factual, such as "she is the target of sanctions by the United States, the European Union, Canada and Colombia" (the states and entities that are mentioned in the article and sources). --Te og kaker (talk) 17:48, 5 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The 10 January 2019 date is given, I presume, because it looks like that was the date that

Nicolas Maduro was re-inaugurated. I guess the other party to the dispute was Juan Guaido? He's no longer considered the legitimate President of Venezuela by anybody, except maybe himself. His interim government was dissolved last year

. He's been disinvited from pan-American leadership conferences run by the USA, and Nancy Pelosi, when asked about his absence, pretended not to know who he was.

Personally, I question the legitimacy of keeping this "disputed since 10 January 2019" tag on this page, since there's no clear internal challenger to Maduro's leadership. This is almost as silly as if we put a "disputed" tag on Kamala Harris's Vice Presidential infobox because Donald Trump disputes the 2020 election. Trump's challenge to the presidency is a lot more unsubstantiated, had way less far reaching international impact (and it was nearly universally condemned), and didn't have nearly the impact the presidential crisis has had in Venezuela, which went on for four years. This is

I think if an end-date is given, and at least one reliable source is provided in-line, this would be a reasonable middle-ground position. If the claim can't be sourced, or if no end-date is given, the line should be removed, as IMO it runs counter to the NPOV policy of "avoid asserting opinions as facts". This has not cleared up the matter. Firstly, there is no source, so who is saying the Vice Presidency is disputed. Secondly, who is the other party? Juan Guaidó can't have appointed himself both president and vice-president can he? Is this related to that meme that has been circulating on social media in which Juan Guaidó appoints himself to any post in the world that becomes vacant? I agree that if this claim cannot be sourced, it should be removed. If it can be sourced, an end-date to the dispute should be provided.
