The silver appearance of the spring water was caused by sunlight reflecting from bits of mica stirred up by the turbulence of the water. Elizabeth's brother Jessup (not James) retired in Silver Spring and built a home there called "The Moorings", located in Jessup Blair Park. Elizabeth's best friend was Andrew Jackson's young neice who was serving as First Lady for her uncle whose wife had died. Elizabeth lived in the White House one winter because of her health problems in the damp Blair House.

I am sorry that I do not know any books that have this information. Perhaps I will have to write one.

Elizabeth Blair Lee is my great-great grandmother. My mother was born in the Silver Spring Blair House and her father was born in the Blair House in Washington. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LilEmily (talkcontribs) 10:10, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
