IMHO Taruskin should be described as a musicologist, not music historian. As a student, Taruskin was part of the H&L (History and Literature) dept. at Columbia, but the term switched over in the 1970s. He was in the musicology dept at UC Berkeley. I wouldn't add any description for a person with an article, but as the remark has more to do with the status of women in society at the time, the history aspect seems adequate. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:19, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
