A local news story from his home town states that Jensen is one of only 14 men born outside of Commonwealth countries and one of only three Danes to be awarded the Victoria Cross.^[1] I'm treating this as an exceptional claim, as the List of Victoria Cross recipients by nationality indicates there are at least that number of non-Commonwealth VCs (and lists 58 with uncertain nationality), and it also lists three Danes (but not Jensen as a Dane, which would make it four).

  • Maybe Jensen was ‘one of only 14 men born outside’ the Commonwealth if the statement was qualified ‘except for Nepal’. I have seen similar statements, most of which forget that the 13 Gurkha recipients, most if not all were born in Nepal which has never been a Commonwealth country. All 96 members or former members of the Australian forces were British subjects when awarded the Victoria Cross with 95 British subjects by birth and Jensen by naturalisation.       • Sadly, I doubt if you will find a high quality source. Are there any other recipients born outside of the Commonwealth to non British parents who were naturalised before joining a British or Dominion force? Anthony Staunton (talk) 15:58, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
