Notable

All in all very notable, removing the notable tag -- Esemono (talk) 08:37, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Having had a lot of jobs doesn't make someone notable. Band members are most often covered in band articles, not their own articles, and CEOs and the like of companies are generally covered at the company unless they are eminently personal notable themselves (Bill Gates). Few managers of any kind of their own articles and most of them are the managers of major sports teams, not bands. I would have to say that the Cranberries and Pulp propelled themselves to stardom, since bands are popular for their music, not their management. Being a retail clerk is not "playing an important part". If Rough Trade is still operational, then then article needs improvement to make this clearer, since it seemed to indicate that RT had crashed and burned twice, with Lee and her husband switching careers from running a record label to be being band management agents.
Anyway, I won't fight you on reversion of the notability tag, and I won't AfD this myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone else did. It also needs a lot of cleanup to remove longwinded pointless quotations that do not appear to relate in anyway to the material allegedly being sourced by the cited references.

Verifying info

Regarding the following statements:

  • "The sleeve of Flowers of Romance credits her as a musician, though without specifying her role..."
  • I'll have to wait until I can check my own copy, but I don't recall that the album credits anyone with a specific role (in fact, I'm not sure it lists any credit at all).
  • "...it is thought she is the percussionist..."
  • This statement cites a John Rockwell article as its source for this; Rockwell actually wrote: "Uncredited but apparently on some tracks (playing percussion?) is Jeannette Lee, who is now called a bandmember but whose function seems more managerial than musical." (link) He doesn't seem convinced and I don't think it supports the statement, as written.

I don't recall for sure (again, I'll have to check) but I don't believe that the Pascal Bussy book credits Lee with anything other than videography. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 20:30, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There are no credits whatsoever on my copies of Flowers of Romance (U.S. LP and CD editions). Bussy's book mentions that she was in the studio during the sessions; Lee herself claimed that she was there for the mixing, and contributed to the music because she added to the clash of personalities. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 12:18, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I am reading the discussion (link) between Lee and Don Letts. She does maintain that her role in the band was important, but she says herself on p. 16 that she did not actually play in the band (though she, Lydon and Levene pantomimed/lip-synched on Top of the Pops; there is a photo in Bussy's book). I think the entire portion about her role in PiL needs to be rewritten, and I'll try and make an attempt soon if no one beats me to it. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 12:26, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
For that matter I'm not sure "Jeanette Lee (musician)" is the appropriate name for this article as she isn't a musician, per se. She plays a role in music but generally as a non-performer. I am not sure, though, what to use in place of "(musician)". -- Gyrofrog (talk) 15:04, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
One other thing regarding the article name: the sources I've just checked spell the name "Jeannette" with 2 "n"-s. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 22:05, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good call. Given this and this I'm going to be
Jeannette Lee (Rough Trade). Wwwhatsup (talk) 07:20, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply

Done the move. Fixing the disambig I find that the other Jeannette Lee 1) isn't actually known as Jeannette Lee, and 2) is a wikipedia orphan. It's possible our Jeannette could lay claim to the name! I've made comments here.Wwwhatsup (talk) 08:07, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! -- Gyrofrog (talk) 14:31, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In the BBC documentary: Do It Yourself - The Story of Rough Trade Jeannette Lee of Rough Trade says: "I was in Public Image". She doesn't say when it was, and whether this was as a musician or otherwise. My LP copy of Flowers of Romance lists only title, group and a tracklist on the back of the sleeve. The front photo could be Jeannette Lee. There is a white-on-black lyricsheet which is printed on one side only inside the sleeve. Erik-Jan Vens (talk) 17:09, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's well documented that she was in Public Image Ltd, but as the group's videographer, not as a performing musician (other than the aformentioned pantomiming). -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:38, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
