Arbitrary section

Why is it that no one creates Wiki pages on anyone until they die? Seriously. People always orgasm at the idea of being the first to create a Wiki article, and usually only do so when they read the headlines on yahoo.com or something else non-credible. What a poor excuse to creat an article. And even then, the information is always loaded with premature information, unverified by anyone, not cited. If it weren't for his medals, I would agree with you. I will leave the PROD tag up for a day or so for discussion. Disliking the reason that an article was created is not an excuse to run it down. Each article should be dealt with on the merits of the content, nothing else. Just because this guy had no article before today, it does not mean that he wasn't notable enough for one. Of course, if he wasn't notable enough, then the article will go. Instead of complaining when you see an unsourced article or one that you consider trivial or useless, why don't you *shock* do something about it? Not everything that merits an article has one yet. This is such an occurrence. Upon finding out about his death, many people searched WP for information, as they would about any subject they may want more information about. In this case, there was no article, so it was created. Visit recently created articles and see dozens of subjects that although notable, had no home at WP until today.

I'd say that an athlete that medaled at the highest level of his/her sport would probably be notable. The (almost) absolute indication of notability is significant coverage in independent, reliable sources. A quick scout through Google News shows he's recieved this coverage from USA Today, LA Times & the NY Times (via. As. Press) amongst >200 other articles I can't be bothered to look through. IMO, he meets the criteria for notability.

Conflicting dates of death

This blog says he died at 11:30PM PST on the 9th. This Associated Press report says he died on Tuesday, which would be the 10th. Until this is clarified, please don't fix one date or the other. Hart?

Looking for a photo and additional career highlights

I posted the following to a picture-request section of the Metal Mulisha web site:

Please help watch this discussion page for editors who need help adding material.

Also watch the article for overeager fans adding material that needs rewording or which simply does not meet Wikipedia standards or which is not encyclopedic, such as "we miss him" and the like. There was a rash of that right after he died and as a result the article had to be

semi-protected
for a few days.

A note to anyone with a photo - we only need a single photo. A head-shot or a recognizable picture of him in work-related setting such as a press conference or even just giving a speech will be fine.
