Asian American vs. Chinese American

A wikipedian recently changed Ms. Long's ethnic description in the first sentence from "Asian American" to "Chinese American." While it is clear that she is indeed a Chinese American because her father is of Chinese descent, she is also a Japanese American because her mother's background is Japanese (absent any clear statement by Ms. Long on the matter; for example, if Ms. Long has asserted that she identifies only as a Chinese American, then that would be relevant, of course). Therefore I reverted the first sentence back to "Asian American," which is generic to both. --Ryanaxp 15:16, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"I was born Jodi Long, not Jodi Leung. My father was born Long but when he came from Australia and became a song and dance man here in America, he changed his professional name to Leung to make it sound 'more Chinese!'" (from Gil Kaan.
