Yes, they are from Tywardreath, Southern Cornwall, near Fowey.However, there was a Devon branch of the family-obviously Kat's forebears.--jeanne (talk) 07:51, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The second section states that, "In 1537, when Elizabeth I was four, Katherine became her governess, and was known to her as 'Kat'." Interestingly enough, the link to the State Papers has no results when you search of Kat Ashley or Katherine Ashley. Therefore someone reading this article relies on what the article says and since there is a "reputable" source given, they deem it as correct. It would seem that the deposition is not copied word for word and the sentence implies that the Dowager Queen joined in with the tickling and what not. Catherine is not accused of any sexual matter and did not "molest" [which is what the paragraph implies] Elizabeth. This source which uses her deposition.. does not state that the Dowager Queen was in the room when Seymour came in, in the morning. Rather she was still sleeping. Rather in most books Kat Ashley is not even seen as a reputable source either; Elizabeth ended up under the care of Lady Trywhitt while Kat was told by the council that she was unfit to look after Elizabeth. R Matt Davidson 05:39, 7 February 2017 (UTC)First off the article does appear to contradict some of the information provided in Elizabeth I written by David Loades, in regards to the formal education of Elizabeth and what Kat Ashley's role was. When mentioning Elizabeth's education there are no citations to back up the information. One of the refrence links, A Who's Who of Tudor Women, doesn't work. Over all the composition of the article lacks the necessary decisiveness needed to reassure the accuracy of the material being presented.Examples of this include introducing a paragraph with "rumors about" and "evidently". The intentions of Thomas Seymour is another possible contradiction to what is presented in the biography Elizabeth I, but a more in depth exploration would be needed to confirm this. Juglice25A (talk) 18:06, 24 January 2019 (UTC)In the paragraph about Kat's parentage, it says that Sir John Campernowne died thirty years prior. It would appear to be saying that he died 30 years prior to Kat's birth, which would definitely let him out as her father -- is it intended to mean thirty years prior to the letter to Thomas Cromwell? If so, it needs a little rewrite.[reply]
