Problem with BreedersDigest.net bio

A number of claims cite the page:

"Kim Deal bio on BreedersDigest". Breedersdigest.net. Retrieved 2012-02-19.

http://breedersdigest.net/about/kim-deal/

But that page is just carelessly copy-pasted from parts of this Wikipedia article. (Even a caption from a music sample appears accidentally mixed into the text, and there are citation numbers in brackets.) Isn't that, uh... problematic? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Daniel Earwicker (talkcontribs) 19:54, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bassist advert

an advert for a female bassist into Hüsker Dü and Peter, Paul and Mary. On fr:Pixies and on [[1]], we can read the advert : Band seeks bass player into
Hüsker Dü? and Peter, Paul & Mary?,
phone: (UK) 0890 900 1003
So I'm not sure the advert was looking specifically for a female bassist.

Image not Kim Deal

The image on this page is not Kim Deal. It's a Belgian bassist. Maybe someone could post a new image?

This picture could be of anybody, I suggest we get a new one immediately.Bosleybin (talk) 05:06, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That question was from a while ago. That IS Kim Deal. Speedboy Salesman (talk) 20:55, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That picture might be Kelley, as Kim was wearing her hair in short bob on that tour (however she could have cut it midway through before London) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.10.84.3 (talk) 17:50, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If that's Kim, why is the filename 'Kelley-Deal-yadayada'? I call shenannigans. --125.237.27.141 (talk) 22:37, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That picture is indeed Kelley. I have a picture of Kim from All Tomorrows Parties which I can substitute. Available light (talk) 17:43, 4 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Further to above, with Nortonius's help I have replaced Kelley's image in this article with one of Kim. Available light (talk) 21:31, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That photo of Kelley had sneaked back in again, the image name says it's Kim so that should probably be changed. Having replaced it with an image of Kim in this edit of 6 May 2010, I've done the same again with this edit. Nortonius (talk) 09:23, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The erroneous name of that image on Commons has now been fixed, so this mix-up shouldn't recur. Nortonius (talk) 12:04, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What year?

There is an error in the following bit of the article but I don't know what the correct info is. I'll just take out the "In 1996." "In 1996, Kim contributed her voice to the Sonic Youth single, "Little Trouble Girl" from their '95 album Washing Machine. She also appears in the Mark Romanek music video for that song."

Confusing sentence

"To complete the lineup, Murphy suggested they hire Dave Lovering, a friend of his, as drummer..."

Since Kim is referred to as "Mrs. John Murphy" in this article, the "his" in the above sentence is confusing. Did Kim's husband suggest this? If so, his full name would be helpful, because he hasn't been discussed for a while at this point in the article. If not, obviously, the pronoun should be "her." Can someone who has one of the books listed as references clarify this? GaryColemanFan 14:06, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

She's not referred to as Mrs. John Murphy in the article. It only notes that she was credited as such in several albums. "Murphy suggested.." definitely refers to Deal, as Deal adopts the stage name in the following paragraph (but it's not used in the article). Same with the Doolittle quote. Marriage to John Murphy

Kim is no longer married to John Murphy, right? The article makes no reference to this. --

I came to this article as I was wondering about this, it should be added 94.174.108.74 (talk) 20:04, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ampeg SVT?

What's up with "no ampeg" line on equipment? As I remember good Kim uses almost ALWAYS vintage Ampeg SVT (and matching 8x10 silver cabinet) from 70's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.160.139.186 (talk) 09:26, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Prodigy connection

Kim Deal did not actually work with the Prodigy I believe. The Prodigy just sampled the Breeders track 'SOS' for their single 'Firestarter'. They also sampled The Art of Nosie which is why Trevor Horna nd co are listed as writers for the song. For this reason I don't believe the Prodigy should be listed as an associate act. I didn't want to just remove it though in case someone can say for sure that Kim actually collaborated with The Prodigy when they wrote Firestarter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Anagain (talkcontribs) 03:34, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Drug and alcohol issues

Kim had numerous battles with drug and alcohol, including checking into rehab. The Pixies have gone on record (see the book Fool the World) that drugs made her unreliable in the band. In the 2004 documentary, she is abstaining from alcohol, for example. I find it very odd her sister Kelley's issues are mentioned and Kim's are not mentioned despite being highly relevant to her career for better or worse.

My opinion:

1) Either remove Kelley Deal's drug issues from at least the intro as I'm sure it doesn't define her entire life and it isn't an article about Kelley Deal 2) Flesh out Kim's own substance issues as they have been relevant throughout her entire career. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.22.169.240 (talk) 12:39, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dandy Warhols song

Hi, it seems to me that the page could include a mention of the song "As cool as Kim Deal" by the The Dandy Warhols on their ...The Dandy Warhols Come Down album, but I don't know were to add it as it doesn't fit in any existing section. Should I create a "In popular culture" section to add it? Cam interop (talk) 17:49, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

When did the twin join?

The article reads "Following the band's debut album Pod, her twin sister Kelley Deal joined, replacing Tanya Donelly."

Anyone can see in the video for "Safari Kelley playing, along with Tanya Donelly.

Further, there's the wiki article that shows she's on it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safari_(EP)#Personnel

So clearly she joined the group BEFORE this article says she was there.

Years of being a member of The Breeders

Hello! I don't know which description is correct. On Kim Deal's page, it says she is no longer affiliated with The Breeders. On The Breeders page, it says she is still a member. It's confusing. I don't know how to confirm which is correct, but I am hoping someone else does and can bring the pages into alignment.
