This entire section was rewritten, as it told more of the history of the Gangster Disciples than of Larry Hoover. Additional references were used to explain more about Hoover and his impact on the gang, as opposed to the gang itself. This article uses excerpts from the main article on the Gangster Disciples.

Who is Sharma? Hoover? Someone else? If someone knows exactly where I am looking for this info on the adobe document please let me know. I am inclined to delete the text claiming that the Gangster Disciples made 10 million dollars a day off the drug trade in the South Side of Chicago. I have no doubt that the Chicago drug trade was highly profitable but 10 million a day is exceptionally difficult to believe. That's 3.5 billion a year for one city, which is inconceivable. Paublo Escobar's Medellin drug cartell didn't make that much and we are talking about one city. Without a source I am going to call BS on that claim.Jdlund (talk) 23:41, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Larry Hoover is a significant figure in American gang history because he was known for instilling a marked rigidity in his gang. He did things like make having an eduction necessary to gain gang membership. He also changed the name of his gang from "Gangster Disciples" to "Growth and Development" at one point. Maybe including more information about this sort of thing would create a more insightful look into Hoover's biography.--Laythsodmg (talk) 01:49, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There's been a reqphoto tag here for almost 6 years. What are the odds we're going to find a freely licensed photo of Larry Hoover to put up here? In addition I'm pretty sure Hoover falls under the exception to the blanket rule that non-free photos of living people aren't allowed. He's in a supermax prison for continuing to run the Gangster Disciples from prison. I don't think anyone's allowed to bring cameras in there.
