Talk:March 2017 Israel–Syria incident

Remedy instructions and exemptions

Enforcement procedures:

Violations of any restrictions (excluding 1RR/reverting violations) and other conduct issues should be reported to the administrators' incidents noticeboard. Violations of revert restrictions should be reported to the administrators' edit warring noticeboard.
Editors who violate any listed restrictions may be blocked by any uninvolved administrator, even on a first offense.
An editor must be aware before they can be sanctioned.

With respect to any reverting restrictions:

Edits made solely to enforce any clearly established consensus are exempt from all edit-warring restrictions. In order to be considered "clearly established" the consensus must be proven by prior talk-page discussion.
Edits made which remove or otherwise change any material placed by clearly established consensus, without first obtaining consensus to do so, may be treated in the same manner as clear vandalism.
Clear vandalism of any origin may be reverted without restriction.
Reverts of edits made by anonymous (IP) editors that are not vandalism are exempt from the 1RR but are subject to the usual rules on edit warring. If you are in doubt, contact an administrator for assistance.

Notability

I think this is very notable, and deserves its own article. There are 3 main things that distinguish it from other Israeli strikes on Syria during the civil war: first is that Israel clearly acknowledged they did the attack (no plausible deniability). Second, Syria fired their S-200 missiles against the Israeli jets, which I believe has only happened a single time before during the civil war. Third though, and what is emerging as the most notable, is that an anti-ballistic missile shot down an S-200 missile; think about how ridiculous that is... S-200 missile is launched, flying at upwards to 7 Mach, chasing the fighter plane, and Israel responds with an Arrow 3 flying at 9+ Mach to intercept the S-200 missile? I believe you are correct, this was a very notable incident. I'm not concerned with notability issues here. Hopefully other editors will come in and expand the article beyond a stub, though. While I have great respect for the State of Israel, I am not an expert on it's defense forces and air force, military strategy and engagement protocols.
