Added 2nd paragraph

Mat played at my church on the CSU, Chico campus a few years back before he was big. He talked about his life a little so I added a few facts that I remember. --Kellenwright 09:22, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Undeniable

This may be obvious, but does Mat rap on his song "Undeniable"? Yes he does. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.119.206.35 (talk) 04:31, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, they're calling it 'spoken word', not rap. --Fonkety ponk (talk) 22:23, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Christian music?

Is he a Christian? I can't seem to figure it out because I watched his music video "Breath In Breath out" and It didn't seem very Christian at the end is it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.119.81.246 (talk) 03:51, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just because he isn't mentioning God or Jesus in that song, doesn't mean he isn't a Christian. We can give glory to God without saying his name. Breathe In Breathe Out is a song about true love; That is a very Christian attribute. ```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.234.135.36 (talk) 21:33, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well said. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.29.146.211 (talk) 17:08, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to see a source on his alleged Christianity. Even the Wikipedia article itself doesn't mention it, just the categories. That being said, my wife heard "Nothing Left to Lose" played on KSBJ in Houston, a Christian radio station. Niasain (talk) 21:53, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He's part of InPop Records... it's very exclusive; Christians only. 64.234.0.101 (talk) 06:15, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
this newspaper article says "Kearney's also upfront about his faith, but he doesn't classify himself as a Christin songwriter. He's a songwriter who is Christian. 'My faith is a huge part of my music, and it's what has informed my view of life' ... his mother [is a minister]". tedder (talk) 19:38, 24 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Engaged?

Just so you guys all know, Mat IS engaged as of Decemeber of 09. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.176.99.197 (talk) 01:24, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of section

Last night I added an Artistry section covering the genre and style of music Kearney makes. I thought that this was important because he's really unique in this sense, in that he's soft rock but he also incorporates hip hop music and other genres into his music, and I wanted to discuss that. Granted it wasn't as complete as I'd like it to be, but I intended to keep adding to it. Today, however, I woke up to find that @Walter Görlitz: had merged that section into the end of the "Biogrophy" section, before ultimately deleting it entirely labeling it as "Marketing". I can assure you that it's not marketing in the slightest. --Deathawk (talk) 20:46, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No need to ping me as this article is clearly on my watchlist.
It's not a standard section (see Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians/Article guidelines and Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Music) and it does sound promotional although a "musical style" section may be appropriate. Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:02, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In retrospect I can see how it could be seen as that way. I was in a hurry, let me try to expand it out and then we'll go from there. --Deathawk (talk) 21:06, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. A style section would be good. Thanks for working on improving not only this article, but Wikipedia in general! Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:10, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks I appreciate it. --Deathawk (talk) 21:13, 22 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Listing of all of his TV appearances seems excessive

I noticed that under Media Appearances there is a listing of seemingly, every performance he made on talk shows. I think this is excessive and goes into WP:NOTEVERYTHING territory. I have seen no other artists pages that attempt to document performances in this manner. --Deathawk (talk) 21:45, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. It's odd that only one is sourced as well. Walter Görlitz (talk) 23:35, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
