Deletion

Within a couple of hours of putting this together I get a threat of deletion! The subject is clearly notable. She has won 3 awards which I have now referenced so hopefully that will be enough to prevent deletion for now.S.tollyfield (talk) 22:25, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, thanks. The problem here is not notability, but our rule
WP:BLP which requires that all biographical articles must contain reiable sources when they are created. There is still much that needs sourcing, such as her biography, so I'm re-adding an appropriate tag.  Sandstein  06:51, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply

Obviously a notable author. Nina Allan is one of my favorite writers and I'll see if I can add more info and reference in near future. But this is still a great start to this article. Excellent work.--SouthernNights (talk) 14:38, 9 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately there is also another problem here: the text of this version of the article was copy-pasted directly from here. That is a serious and blatant
WP:CP rather than tagging it for speedy deletion as G12. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:44, 15 November 2014 (UTC)[reply

I've been in contact with the copyright holder - Nina Allan...who else? - and she says, "If you have further problems with the bots, do get back to me and I’ll give a simple copyright permission, no problem."S.tollyfield (talk) 21:32, 15 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WP:DCM. Meanwhile, know that copying someone else's work is still intellectually dishonest. Chris Troutman (talk) 19:11, 20 November 2014 (UTC)[reply

Intellectually dishonest - that's harsh, if not abuse! This is not a personal essay that I am claiming as my own work! Apparently the last thing the editors want is any original research. All I have done is copy the basic biographical detail from the author's own website - and frankly where else would you get it? - but then rearrange it into encyclopaedic format - so the appropriate details go into the infobox, etc. References are then sought from elsewhere. I'm sure this is what everyone does. My mistake was to do this basic work on the Wikipedia page but there is nothing dishonest about itS.tollyfield (talk) 05:49, 21 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
