Debut?

Did it really debut off-Broadway? I was under the impression the first performances were at the Roundhouse in London. Can someone clarify? AuntFlo (talk) 03:37, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It looks to have been in London after NYC, although obviously key writing took place in London – I've added something about the controversy when it opened in London (see obscenity allegations para), which is possibly why it was tested/found an open door in NYC first. But this is supposition and it would need more research. Libby norman (talk) 11:03, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The show did open off-Broadway at the Eden on 17 June 1969 and ran for 704 performances. See report in the "Toronto Daily Star" 18 June 1969: 76. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:C0:8200:5B7:4518:30E:321D:3186 (talk) 13:47, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
