I altered the description because I have come across wooden ovoos. Actually, I think in Inner Mongolia and maybe Kalmykia there are much more elaborate ovoos, made from bricks and very much like a small permanent structure, so the "cairn" description may also be a bit misleading. I also edited the stuff about ovoos as navigation help (I guess this could be true for the flatter Govi areas, but what about the rest of Mongolia?) and "should" (Many mongolian's do not stop for every single ovoo, either), plus added a remark about ovoo "clusters". The borders stuff also seemed a bit unclear - it seems the, indeed, ovoos are built where in other countries would be the "Welcome to XXX" sign, but I don't think ovoos are used as border demarcation anymore. I ran across this image on Commons. I don't know enough about the topic to know what is typical, but I thought the image was rather striking and perhaps should be in the article. - Jmabel | Talk 03:41, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It would help if there was some info on the location where this image was made, though. I am only really familiar with ovoos in Outer Mongolia, and they look quite different from the one on your picture, in both color and shape. Yaan (talk) 10:23, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently it is meant to be an ovo (zhwiki uses it in an article that according to google translate describes ovos), but as far as I can tell it shows an extremely unusual specimen. --Latebird (talk) 11:36, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The "In Ceremony" section hyperlinks the sky spirit Tengger or Tengri to Tngri. However, that page is about a class of deities, and links to a sky deity named Tengri in its not-to-be-confused-with. Is this link correct? Nimajita (talk) 14:57, 13 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
