fact and fiction

The whole Fact and fiction section belongs on the talk page, not in the article. Rwflammang (talk) 23:57, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I removed it wholesale from the article. carl bunderson (talk) (contributions) 17:56, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I returned the Fact and Fiction section to the primary article for several reasons. My main reason for doing so was that almost everywhere you read the life of Chanel these errors are repeated and repeated. I have seen children taught by well meaning teachers who repeat over and over again the same pious nonsense. Chanel's life was exemplary but the stories told are often repeated wrongly. My sources are the original Marist Archives of the saint. As the primary contributor to the facts on the page I think it fair that this section remain. In 50 years time I hope the errors will not be repeated. The Remover of the section says that he does so and placed it in the talk section but did not. It therefore may well be lost. History should never be just the plain facts, it is important to remove the fallacies as well. Kiddo54 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiddo54 (talkcontribs) 04:03, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Peter or Pierre

If you are going to call him Peter, then the first bit would probably read better as "Peter Louis Mary Chanel (in French Pierre Louis Marie Chanel)" --2607:FEA8:D5DF:1AF0:DBD:BB97:BC27:B922 (talk) 12:33, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
