There are conflicting reports of Kaplan's orientation. I will address this in a future "background" section. For now I feel it is appropriate to remove references to religion and orientation from the intro. Heterosexual politicians don't have "heterosexual" listed in their first sentence, after all. That's true, and I included it in the lead only because of the absence of another suitable section. A "Personal life" or general "Biography" section would indeed be the most appropriate place for information about sexuality and ethnicity/religion. Rebecca Kaplan co-edited a bisexual anthology in which she self-identified (among other things) as a bi-dyke (that is, as a dyke-identified bisexual). I have made a change to reflect this and included the page reference from her book which includes her bio. Margaret Robinson 7:50, 15 November 2013

• List of LGBT Jews

and the article is no longer

Hm. I removed the cats on her article before reading this discussion page. She really shouldn't be in the LGBT cats without a) a statement in the article, and b) a reliable source to back up the statement. I'm cleaning up some articles now, but if I get the chance, I'll take a look. "List of LGBT Jews" ...Seriously? Why should this be included as a tag? I know these "lists" are popular with certain types, but I'd like to know why that's even significant here. I mean, yes the LGBT issue is certainly politically significant in Oakland, but I would like to understand the relevance and significance of getting her on them. Please educate me. I added the entry to List of LGBT Jews because ... well, because she is a LGBT Jew. Without commenting on the validity or usefulness of the List of LGBT Jews (that's a discussion for AfD or the list's talk page), is there a particular reason to exclude her from the list? -- Black Falcon ^(talk) 19:04, 15 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The most commonly-used ones are: {{cite book}}, used for books; {{cite journal}}, used for articles in journals and magazines; {{cite news}}, used for news articles; and {{cite web}}, used for general websites.
