Robert's actually a family friend; I can tell you he isn't with the Eagles anymore, but has taken the head coach job at his alma mater, Virginia Intermont College (http://www.viathletics.com/coach/7/5.php). Professional Experience and Honors: 2005: In his rookie season in the USL First Division, Ssejjemba (pronounced Say-gem-ba) made is professional debut on 16 April against the Atlanta Silverbacks. He registered three goals on the season, of which two were game-winners and was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week on 5 July for his game-winning penalty kick in Puerto Rico. A native of Uganda, Ssejjemba was called up to represent his country for two Uganda National Team World Cup Qualifying matches (Africa Zone) on 5 June versus the Democratic Republic of Congo and on 18 June versus the Cape Verde National Team in Ssejjemba’s hometown of Kampala.

College Experience and Honors: A Virginia Intermont College (NAIA) soccer standout, Ssejjemba tallied 186 points over four seasons (75 goals, 36 assists) including 57 points (24 goals, 9 assists) his senior year. Robert was named to the First Team All-Appalachian Athletic Conference, First Team All-Region XII and was a two-time All-American. A two-year captain, Ssejjemba led the Appalachian Athletic Conference in goals (24), shots (79) and shots on goal (62) in 2004. He recorded four hat tricks his senior year, including a four-goal game against Union College on 11 September 2004. In addition, last summer he was a member of the Kalamazoo Kingdom (PDL) where he led the team in goals (10), assists (6) and points (26).

International Experience: Robert’s playing experience extends to the international level as he made his first appearance with the senior Uganda National Team on 5 June 2005 versus the Democratic Republic of Congo during the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany Preliminary competitions of the Africa Zone. A native of Kampala, Uganda, Ssejjemba played for the Ugandan under-18 and under-20 National Team before arriving in the United States to begin his collegiate career.

He was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week on 7/5 for his game-winning penalty kick. 2004: Ssejjemba began his professional career with the Kalamazoo Kingdom of the Premier Development League. In his only season with the squad, he led the team in goals (10), assists (6) and points (26).

Ssejjemba has represented the Ugandan National Teams at the U-18, U-20 and U-23 levels. He also has six international caps with the full Ugandan National Team, including two of World Cup Qualifying matches in 2005 – on 5 June against the Democratic Republic of Congo and versus Cape Verde on 18 June.

2001–04: The Kampala, Uganda native came to the United States on a soccer scholarship to Virginia Intermont College (NAIA). The 26-year-old forward will travel with United to Chicago tomorrow and will be available for selection in Sunday’s match against the Fire. Richmond Kickers RICHMOND, VA – (Friday, 15 September 2006) – USL Second Division Champion Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce that USL2 Most Valuable Player Robert Ssejjemba will join DC United of Major League Soccer on loan for the remainder of the 2006 MLS season. Although specific terms were not disclosed, Ssejjemba will be eligible to travel with DC United to Chicago this Sunday.
