I think the 2006 film Sukeban Deka: Code Name = Asamiya Saki should be moved to its own article because it is its own movie and doesn't really fit on this page. If anyone agrees or disagrees, please say so. Should the title be Sukeban Deka: Code Name = Asamiya Saki, Sukeban Deka: Yo-Yo Girl Cop, or something else? I am currently stuck on choosing a title. --

In the plot summary it says the Saki's mother is on death row for killing her abusive husband, but so far I've been unable to find where this comes from (the cause that is, not the death row part). The anime, near as I can tell, doesn't tell us her exact crime or her victim, nor the reason for it. I haven't managed to find much in the manga version of this story either. Presumably it is murder since she's up for the death penalty, but even that I don't think they clearly stated. What little I have found in the manga hints more than Saki's sister might have been killed by the Mother and that the Mother is the abusive one, no mention of a father even factoring in. The anime isn't clear at all. The manga version does show the murder scene of Saki's father commited by Saki's mother and explains it. However, I think it's a confusing explanation. In pages 242–245 of Chapter 11 (at least in the scans I've found [not sure if can throw illegal material here]) "The Viper Strikes Back" the father is depicted as an alcoholic and addicted to gambling. Then, it's implied he gave her daughter, Miyuki (Saki's sister), to another family and extorted them for money. Not sure where the "abusive" comes from, though it can be considered as such. Thank you, had practically given up hope I'd get an answer. Yeah, don't see any claim of physical abuse in that page (in fact looks like he and Saki were on good terms), but as you say definitely alcohol and gambling involved, and giving away a kid for money I could see as sorta the type of thing that could be considered 'abusive'.
