Merge

Should this page be merged with Sundaland? They seem to be about the same area, and could easily be part of one article. Any difference between the two seems to be confused by the articles. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 06:37, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No they shouldn't be. Their respective first sentences are quite clear on their differences. I identified this mess on my sandbox a year or so ago [1] But, not needing to merge them, does not mean they are not of low quality with work needing done. I'd focus on removing unverifed info before expansion.--Merbabu (talk) 06:44, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The first sentences may be, but the rest of the article (however short) doesn't follow that. I think the history on Sundaland should be moved here, as it has little to do with an ecoregion. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 06:52, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
They are related, but there is a clear distinction in concepts - which you acknowledge yourself - and thus they should not be merged. Moving content between articles might be required, but that's not the same as merging. --Merbabu (talk) 14:00, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I know its not the same, hence my not making an official merge request, but putting it under discussion. The problem is that the articles lack distinction. If that distinction can be made, it would be better for both articles. Chipmunkdavis (talk) 14:27, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Philippines?

Is the Philippines really slightly isolated from the Sundaland? Jaspergeli (talk) 15:55, 23 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sunda Plate merger

I have read the page Sunda Plate and looked at the page for the Eurasian Plate and see that the area being called Sunda Shelf is now being called Sunda Plate. I think the argument has been won that the area is not a shelf and extension of the larger Euraisan Plate. Instead the area is listed specifically as a minor independent tetonic plate. Therefore, a merger with the page Sunda Plate is in order. For now I have added language to the page that this area is incorrectly being called the Sunda Shelf.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Pbmaise (talkcontribs) 17:33, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A continental shelf is not the same thing as a continental plate. The article could use updating with information about the plate, but that doesn't make them the same area. See also Sahul Shelf. CMD (talk) 11:43, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
