To clarify, these papers have different history - one is an African American newspaper, the other is not. One was founded in 1888, the other was founded in 1889. They also have a different history of naming conventions (but at some point both were named "The Colorado Statesman"), and differences in politics. I am adding a note to clarify, because in the past someone combined the history in the WP The Colorado Statesman without supporting citations.
