Manuscripts threatened by uprising?

Both this Reuter's article and this ABC news article suggest the manuscripts are under threat, also contains some more info to expand this page. EdwardLane (talk) 13:53, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's strange that these Islamists want to destroy all evidence that Islam was at one point a leading civilization. But there you are, they want to burn all traces that Islam ever allowed culture to flourish because in their view it should not. But then I assume

According to the news today, the manuscripts have all been burnt :( I guess most of this article will need to go into the past tense now :( --

Past tense?

Why does this article describe the manuscripts in the past tense? It implies that there are no manuscripts left in Timbuktu, which would be a drastic and unwarranted conclusion. — ℜob C. alias ÀLAROB 19:31, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
