There needs to be a broader convention about which university rankings to include in articles. Currently it seems most pages are listing primarily those that show the institution at its best (or worst in a few cases). See

According to the Guradian University Guide 2013 does the IOE top the league table for education research, across all subjects the performance places it in the top 10 universities in the UK. Ofsted recently rated its teaching training programmes as outstanding or good with outstanding features. A 90% positive score in the national student survey 2009-10, placed it in the top 10 in the UK for student satisfaction" (http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2011/may/16/universityguide-institute-of-education). Annother source for student satisfaction adds that the IOE achieved a 90% positive score in the National Student Survey for 2010, placing it 9th overall in the UK for student satisfaction(http://www.london.ac.uk/2386.html). The IOE says the following: "The IOE is not eligible for most league tables because they are based on undergraduate programmes of study, whereas most of our programmes are postgraduate. I propose that Institute of Education building, which has very little content and uses an outdated name for the institution, should be merged into this article. The building is notable, but not to the extent of requiring a dedicated article. Ham II (talk) 20:47, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Because the building is sufficiently notable to carry it. A detailed discussion of design, construction, reception, and its brutalist aspects would be excessive in the institution's article. Philafrenzy (talk) 22:37, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Would that level of depth in the institution's article necessarily be excessive? I'd expect to find it there rather than in a fork; that's the norm for organisations based in listed buildings. Indeed it's UCL Institute of Education that currently has the better coverage of the building out of the two articles, yet Institute of Education building is the article in Category:Grade II* listed buildings in London. In my view the building really has little to do with the Institution of Education and vice versa, though I assume the intended purpose influenced the architecture. The I of E article should be about the history and activities of the institute, not architecture. The other things are all fixable. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:40, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

On Monday 10 January 2022, UCL Institute of Education changed its name from the former to "IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education and Society". It would be much appreciated if edits can be made to the article to reflect this, including the title and URL of the article.

• Specific text to be added or removed: References to the UCL Institute of Education or simply the "Institute" in the present tense should be changed to "IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education and Society" in the first instance, and "IOE" thereafter.
• Reason for the change: To reflect the correct and current name of the faculty.
• References supporting change: ^[1], ^[2], ^[3]

WP:COMMONNAME for article subjects, not the official name. That the IOE has changed its name does not mean the name of the Wikipedia page should change unless this new name passes into common use. A quick search for "IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education and Society" shows pretty much zero usage in independent, reliable English-language sources, thus it is clearly not established as the common name, while "UCL Institute of Education" has been used in The Guardian this week and in The Times a couple of weeks ago.
