Things we should expand upon to make this article not a stub:

Rumors of drunken decline (which are apparently, not true, or partially true, re: Lipton's research.)

The history of Meurent scholarship, re: Tabarant, Meurent as feminist and lesbian icon.

The GLBQT reference mentions that one of her paintings did surface at auction recently, in 2004. If anyone could find out more about that, this would be a very valued contribution. I've also seen reference to pornographic photos that Delacroix had of her in his possession. If anyone else could discover more about that also, it would be good. Glad to see other people working on the article. Editing to add that the painting from 2004 is hanging in the Columbes History Museum according to personal correspondence.Skywaterblue (talk) 07:39, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added new information to the page, including a scan of the painting by Victorine Meurent. The curator of the Colombes Museum in which it hangs will give you the scan if you email and ask for it, but prior to the book release by VR Main I was uncertain as to if you could post and upload it. Nonsensical

"The painting is considered the best example of Manet's first use of the modern approach to subject matter." I've rewritten this to convey what I take to be the intended meaning. Harfarhs (talk) 18:16, 15 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology and Pronunciation

This section does not really seem to add anything to the article. I'm inclined to remove it, but what do other people think?--Arthistorygrrl (talk) 03:51, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree. Ewulp (talk) 04:33, 3 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I just deleted it. Thanks, Ewulp, for the second opinion.--Arthistorygrrl (talk) 17:00, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The Parisian Sphinx, Stevens

I think this is the wrong painting. It should be the one from the KMSK of Antwerp (ca.1870). 80.236.240.83 (talk) 20:23, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

affair with Marie Pellegrin (the famous courtesan George Moore mentioned)

this is confirmed by other sources in they biography Alisa Olympia. 188.29.60.33 (talk) 13:29, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

sorry Alias Olympia 188.29.60.33 (talk) 13:30, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
shouldn't she have an lgbt category, since she had one affair with a woman, and then shared a house - and maybe had an affair- with Marie DuFour. 188.29.60.33 (talk) 13:31, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
if she possibly had heterosexual affairs too, she ought to have a bisexual category 188.29.60.33 (talk) 13:32, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
