Imamate in Zaydi doctrine

  • ... that in Zaydi Shi'ism, the imamate was not inherited or appointed but had to be claimed by public summons for allegiance or even leadership of an armed revolt? Source: Madelung 1971, p. 1166: "the imamate belongs to any qualified descendant of al-Hasan or al-Husayn who calls to his allegiance and rises against the illegitimate rulers. The imamate becomes legally valid through the formal "call" to allegiance (da'wa) and "rising" (khurudi), not through election (ikhtiyar) and contract ('akd)." as well as juxtaposition with the Imami Shi'a doctrine

Number of QPQs required: 2. DYK is currently in unreviewed backlog mode and nominator has 141 past nominations.

Post-promotion hook changes will be logged on the talk page; consider watching the nomination until the hook appears on the Main Page.
  • New enough and long enough. @Cplakidas: Second QPQ necessary for backlog mode. AGF on the database source Madelung for both hook facts, which do appear in the article. Ping me when a second article has been reviewed. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 21:02, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
  • @Cplakidas: It's a new mechanic because DYK is overflowing with unassessed nominations right now. If we get above a certain point, high-volume nominators need to supply a second QPQ for their own nominations. Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 21:08, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
