2009 episodes

In 2009, the release schedule at Atop the Fourth Wall and That Guy with Glasses soon converged with Episode 14, although some later episodes were released a day apart at the two sites. Episodes 12 and 13 were the first two part review; the latter began with Atop the Fourth Wall's first "Previously on" segment, in which television style continuity reminder sequences are mimicked, with cameoes from other presenters, in a sequence of scenes that have no connection with either the present of previous episode. Episode 37 marked the start of a subplot involving Mechakara, a cyborg duplicate of Linkara, which continues into 2010. Episode 57 introduced a semi-regular series of episodes called "Miller Time" focussing on the works of Frank Miller.

The comic is criticized for Spider-Man's useless guest-appearance that was also for marketing value. Throughout this entire episode, he is shocked each time he mentions One More Day, an issue in the Spider-Man franchise.

Part one of the Amazons Attack review. The Amazons teleport themselves to Washington, D.C. to free an imprisoned Wonder Woman. Queen Hippolyta sets up a base of operations at the Smithsonian. Circe is her advisor. When they discover that Wonder Woman is not in her cell, Hippolyta says they'll destroy Washington just because they can. Continuity errors abound (for both the Wonder Woman series and the story itself). Also major plots are left out and put into tie-in stories.
2222"Amazons Attack #3 and 4"[22]March 16, 2009 (2009-03-16)March 16, 2009
Part two of the Amazons Attack review. The President is safely aboard Air Force One and issues the
Bana technology. The Bana arrive and convince Grace Choi
to join them. With so many gaping plot holes, an ill-conceived storyline, and too many continuity errors to count, Linkara is infuriated.
2323"Amazons Attack #5 and 6"[23]March 23, 2009 (2009-03-23)March 24, 2009
Part three of the Amazons Attack review. In the end, Athena comes down and expresses her disappointment in the Amazons and everyone who took part in the battle. The Amazons are mixed into the human world and have no knowledge of their past lives. Back on Olympus, it is revealed that Athena is an impostor and has imprisoned the gods. The impostor reveals herself to be Granny Goodness. Linkara is confused, until he learns that the story was a tie-in to the Countdown to Final Crisis; then he's furious. He is transported into a comic universe, where he and Wonder Woman must destroy the comic.
Note: Animation by Wilizin
Cameos: BlueFall as Wonder Woman (voice), Krissy Diggs as Athena (voice)
2424"Sultry Teenage Super-Foxes #1"[24]March 31, 2009March 30, 2009 (2009-03-30)
Linkara reviews Sultry Teenage Super-Foxes #1 (Solson Publications, 1987). Four teenage girls, living on an Air Force Base, get superhuman powers after being exposed to a transmutation machine. Linkara criticizes the comic for its many sexual references. The heroines are boy-crazy teenagers who seem desperate to hookup with a pilot. Linkara proposes a game to count the number of times the girls talk about men (3 total). After getting their incredible powers, rather than wanting to protect the world from evil-doers, the girls want to use their new powers to impress pilots. The "villain" of the comic, Madame Rotunda, is a middle-aged mystic who, while trying to summon spirits, is attacked by a demon who promises her the chance for revenge. She accepts and is turned into a sexy sorceress in a costume that reminds Linkara of Princess Leia's metal bikini. As a result, the comic comes off as a porno comic.
Linkara gives most of the blame to Gary Brodsky, who in addition to being a terrible publisher and a womanizer, actually gives advice and writes books on how to dominate women.
2525"Watchmen"[25]April 1, 2009 (2009-04-01)March 31, 2009

Linkara reviews Daredevil #305 (Marvel Comics, 1992) Linkara critizes the comic for over-using narration straight from Daredevil throughtout the comic. The villian, Surgeon General, is also laughable and should not be taken seriously. However, throughtout the end, Linkara is annoyed by narration in the end of the episode.
2828"Daredevil #306"[28]April 20, 2009 (2009-04-20)April 20, 2009

3535"Secret Defenders #9"[35]June 8, 2009 (2009-06-08)June 9, 2009
Linkara reviews Secret Defenders #9 (Marvel Comics, 1993). Doctor Strange summons a pair of unknown heroes to help the Silver Surfer battle the alien supervillainess, Nebula. Apart from the poor dialogue and bad storytelling in the comic, Linkara criticizes the horrendous artwork in the book. The cover art is so bad that Linkara is almost blinded by it. Within the comic, the characters look so fat or so muscular, that movement would seem impossible.

Linkara reviews Superman vs. Terminator #1 (DC Comics/Dark Horse Comics, 2000). Begins the Mechakara subplot. Linkara critizes Part 1 of this series because the plan of a crossover was stupid since Sarah & John Conner didn't know Superman, there was no mention of Skynet, and any other hero in the DC Universe never appear at all.
3838"Countdown Prologue"[38]June 29, 2009 (2009-06-29)June 29, 2009
Beginning of the four part review of the 51-issue series Countdown to Final Crisis (DC Comics, 2007-2008)
3939"Countdown Part 1"[39]July 6, 2009 (2009-07-06)July 7, 2009
Linkara reviews the first part of Countdown. Linkara also adds to his review of Coundown that the series, up until the end of this particular episode, that it's slow and stupid. Also, since the Countdown series has more than 50 issues, he summarizes everything from the beginning. At the end of the episode, the lights turn off, allowing Linkara to take a break before Mechakara reveals himself and states that Linkara's reaction was not what he was expecting. Then, the words "To Be Continued" appear.
4040"Countdown Part 2"[40]July 13, 2009 (2009-07-13)July 14, 2009
Linkara reviews the second part of Countdown. He points out that the plot still goes nowhere despite how many plots have been thrust into the series itself, and that the art in #26 of Countdown to Final Crisis is a recap of the first 25 issues with horrible art design. He also criticizes "The Monitors" in this series for doing nothing when they continue to repeat "They should do something!" as well as
Superboy Prime (renamed "Superman Prime" due to legal issues) for being the main villain and becoming a whiny, homicidal maniac. Superman Prime annoys him so much he refuses to do his "I Am A Man" gag! He gives the Batman Beyond scene a break, though, since he seems to enjoy it.
Cameos: Douglas Walker as the Nostalgia Critic
, Douglas Walker as Chester A. Bum, Noah Antwiler as Doctor Insano, Mathew Buck as Film Brain.

Linkara reviews Law and Order #1 (Maximum Press, 1995). Maximum Press was one of Rob Liefeld's studios prior to the formation of Awesome Comics. Linkara criticizes the comic for its facial expressions shown throughout the comic that don't fit with its situation. He also claims the comic itself is mediocre and boring, the character 'Law' barely has any of her past explained, and it brings to question the "bald individual" who was in the cover for this issue, since he never appears at all.
4545"Batman: Fortunate Son"[45]August 17, 2009 (2009-08-17)August 17, 2009
Linkara reviews Batman: Fortunate Son (DC Comics, 1999). Batman takes on a singer and the rock 'n' roll industry. Linkara critizes the antagonist of the comic for being whiny and for seeing drug-induced images of Elvis Presley. Also, instead of going on, he asks a friend of TGWTG.com, Paw, for help. Paw goes on to criticize the comic itself for its negative view on rock music and its effects of rock-star artists. Finally, the comic is criticized for making Batman looking like he is in his 20s, and Robin looks like he is in his 50s. This is also the start of the gag: "Punk is nothing but death, and crime, and the rage of a beast!"
4646"Air Raiders #1"[46]August 24, 2009 (2009-08-24)August 24, 2009

Linkara reviews Adventures of the Kool-Aid Man #1 (Marvel Comics, 1983). Linkara critizes this comic for its insults towards common sense, science, and even towards God himself. He also criticizes the Kool-Aid Man character himself as "nothing more than a menace to society."

Linkara reviews the Spider-man storyline Maximum Clonage (Marvel Comics, 1995) for Atop the Fourth Wall's 1 Year Anniversary. Linkara points out that the series itself is stupid with the plot making little to no sense at all, and that the artwork in each cover issue looking boring and stupid as well. It should also be noted that Linkara used the "Of Course" gag from the Nostalgia Critic, since he hasn't used it since his "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" review back in February of 2009, as well as the fact that this was shown in widescreen.
5656"22 Brides #1"[56]November 2, 2009 (2009-11-02)November 2, 2009
Linkara reviews 22 Brides #1 (Event Comics, 1996). He criticizes the comic for the artwork, for focussing on exaggerated, long legs and low-angled images, the writing, for being cliched and non-sensical, and for not introducing anything about the characters into the story, disinclining the reader from continuing to read the series.

5959"Spider-Man, Storm, and Cage"[59]November 23, 2009 (2009-11-23)November 23, 2009
Linkara reviews Spider-Man, Storm & Cage (Marvel Comics, circa 2000), a remake of the anti-smoking comic Spider-Man, Storm & Power-Man (1982). He critizes the villian, Smokescreen, for being silly & one-dimensional. He also critizes the moral (Smoking is Bad) since one of the characters, Bret, learns his cigarettes came from criminals, that fact that there are many plot holes but only one was addressed (Spider-Man being able to breathe while in a large cloud of smoke from an escaping Smokescreen, but throughtout the comic no one had any problems breathing around him), and the heroes for not bringing their unique personalities. Otherwise, he claims that while the message was clear, the results were more hysterical then serious.
6060"Bimbos in Time #1"[60]November 30, 2009 (2009-11-30)November 30, 2009
Linkara reviews Bimbos in Time #1 (Draculina Publishing, 1994), a comic based on a movie with the same name back in 1993. The comic is so horrible that Linkara doesn't even start the review with a witty insult or remark. He also shows the work of the comic's creator, Tom Sheets, who made Zombie Bloodbath 1 & 2 (The 1st featuring Jeff Foxworthy). Though he shows sympathy for the creator himself, the comic itself is criticized for an unprofessional cover that looks boring, the comic itself is boring and does not make sense, and there are at least four spelling errors.

Linkara reviews Extreme Super Christmas Special #1 (Image Comics, 1994). Linkara is tormented by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present & Future (in which, ironically, he actually likes Christmas) as he tries to review a comic about Troll, a member of YoungBlood, who must keep a promise to Circe to obtain all the objects in the 12 Days of Christmas song. Linkara critizes Troll throught the comic for various reasons. He also critizes the comic for few & far between jokes that aren't really funny. He does, however, wish his fans a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

    • His theme song followed by him saying that Titans #23 sucks and the credits scrolling to Bohemian Polka
    • A Power Rangers comic review done in the style of Irate Gamer, an internet video game reviewer criticized as being a blatant ripoff of the Angry Video Game Nerd. Linkara exaggerates all of the Irate Gamer's problems, including lack of common sense and lack of background knowledge on what he is reviewing, as well as dressing up like him and shaving his hair to look like that of the Irate Gamer.
