Career

After receiving a taste of radio in late 2006 with a day of work experience at Nova 106.9's top-rating breakfast show Meshel, Ash & Kip with Luttsy[4], Mitch became a volunteer announcer at community station Bay FM in Thornlands, hosting an Australian Music program on Saturday afternoons and a contemporary music show on Monday nights.

Podcasting

Get Into Geek

In his early years at Nova 106.9, Lewis co-created and hosted 'Get Into Geek', a weekly short-form video series on the station's website alongside colleague Dane McGuirk[5] where the two would discuss the biggest news in pop culture. Later, Get Into Geek would transfer to an audio platform to become a podcast.

'Get Into Geek' officially launched as a podcast with a review of 2015's Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. Mitch hosted alongside brother Lincoln, Nova colleague Matt Gibson and "The Gibson Brothers" Brendan and Rhys. Original co-founder Dane McGuirk would later return for casual appearances while other regular and guest hosts include the names Ben, Terri, Scott Couchman, Joz, Emma, Tom, Leon and Craig.

Get Into Geek has continued on with movie reviews, as well as dedicated programs On Your Left talking Marvel; It's All Part Of The Plan discussing DC content; Across The Galaxy talking all things Star Wars; Star Trek show Making It So, 24 rewatch show 24 In 24 as well as Trailer Trash which discussed the biggest trailers of the week from movies, television and gaming and a "cult classics" series when Get Into Geek hosted two seasons of Event Cinemas' In The House festival. Interviews with Hollywood stars such as Steve Carell, Tom Holland and Andy Serkis have also featured on the show.

Get Into Gate

In mid-2016, the Get Into Geek team launched an official spinoff - Get Into Gate - a dedicated Stargate show that launched in line with Stargate SG-1's nineteenth anniversary.

According to the story told in their first episode, Rhys was "sick of being left out" of the in-jokes and Stargate references that long-term fans Mitch, Lincoln, Matt and brother Brendan would throw around during their Get Into Geek time together.

'Get Into Gate' is a "first watch/rewatch" podcast, with Rhys sharing his thoughts on the show for the first time, while the rest of the team do so with nostalgia and a modern look at the iconic 1990's sci-fi series.

The podcast release weekly episodes, however the COVID-19 pandemic saw the team forced out of their usual studio in early 2020 and instead recorded remotely from the hosts' respective homes. Episode releases were reduced to monthly until the end of 2022, when the team reunited in person for their 200th Episode. The milestone episode also saw the surprise return of Rhys, who had been missing from the show since the beginning of the pandemic, though his return was promised as only a "once-off".
