Ricky Martin sales

What Forbes can say about worldwide sales?! They don't have how calculate the sales around the world, they understand about money, not record sales. The certifications and official charts are the most reliable criteria to know the success or failure of an album. All important articles about music here in Wikipedia stopped use inflated sales created by fans and used in other websites and base the sales by the certifications and peak positions. For exemple the album Thriller by Michael Jackson, there arr a lot of sites that said that this album sold 100 million copies worldwide, but that's pretty innacurate, you can see in the talk of this album, the consensus to put Thriller as a 60 million copies sold record. Use the talk of the Ricky Martin article, there are a lot of people that agree with me.

88marcus: money is based on sales and actually Forbes doesn't share false data, it is reliable and of course there is sth that they know!! I'm not talking about fans and other websites, I'm talking about a refrence. That is the most important thing! And about the charts and certifications, we do not have any data for many of countries and for many of his newer albums, so when we do not have any data, we use another trustable refrence!! Yes, you're talknig about your opinion. Not everything that appeared in Internet is true. We have to be accurate in his article, there are much more sites that says he sold 70kk records too. The international acts sold most of his records in USA and Europe, and almost all of this countries have an updated data for albums and singles certifications. This is completely nonsense. Most of his albums didn't even sold 1 million copies worldwide and he has 30kk with certified sales (albums+videos+singles). It's the more accurate to put there. As I said, there are plenty of websites that says 70kk too, even the website of his record company Sony Latin. I'll revert your edition soon.--

88marcus: Ok, so when the refrences are not the same and we cannot rely on them, some are old, some are inflated, some are incomplete and etc. So we should simply remove this sentence & it's really the best choice that we can have. As there wasn't anything about his sales in his article just until a few weeks ago,it seems that it is not necessary. So I'm going to remove it and we can finish the duscussion. You keep saying that the references are too old. The 70 million records sold is already inflated and cover his sales till today. The reference of 70 million records is from 4 years ago. Do you really think that he sold thousands of copies since than, to change his sales to 80 millions or 85 millions?! I'll revert you edition soon. There are many articles from 2018, that say 70 million records worldwide. You seem don't know how charts and sales work. I think you should see sites like Ukmix, and Chartmasters where fans give their datas from reliable sources and don't inflated them.--

Since last year I tried many times to explain to you that 85 million albums sold for Ricky Martin is completely inflated and you keep including that number in his article again. I don't see other way to solve that besides to communicate an administrator for your disruptive edits, see here:

I don't understand why you disagree with the 60 million sold and reverted my edition, since you said to Chrisonduras "Ok so let's do that, but please convince Marcus 88. I don't want to discuss anymore and don't want a drama." I thought you agreed with that. And what about the sales of Fiebre did you saw that it was certified platinum (Latin/0,06) as I told you?--

I checked Billboard, and you can see he had 40 million total album sales and 8.8 million albums in the US till 2008: https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/1045954/ask-billboard But Ricky had 10.97 album sales in the US in early 2011. https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/473334/ask-billboard-what-the-forget-is-going-on?page=0%2C1 (unfortunately the site has broken now 😐 but I can even send you a screenshot if you want and also can search its phrase: Martin's career US album sales stand at 10,972,000, according to soundscan.) Whatever, I mean his sales at least in the US was more than Enrique Iglesias till 2010. What's happened that he became 100 million records (and you know even his fans tryna tell 180m!) But Ricky is still 60m?!! They were both Latin artists from 90s. Ok Enrique had a better function last decade in total, but the difference is not that much! Probably Enrique's sales are inflated too, but at least achiving 10 million record sales for about 12 years is acceptable. Even for a 90s latin artist. He had sold 60m in last decades. 10 million just for this decade is not too much, I know he's no more as successful as he was in the 90s. But nowadays digital sellings and streams made it easier to sell higher and higher. 10 million records is not much for 2010s decade, even for "a 90s latin artist" Even the song "Livin' la Vida Loca" is still selling a lot and had been in the Latin Pop Digital Song Sales for about 250 weeks. And about Fiebre, it was a million for a few weeks ago that I checked. That's why it was also written in its certifications, but probably RIAA has changed it now. I'm sorry for that, I just said what I remembered from my last visits, but now I checked it and you're right. But even with this situation we both know that Vente Pa' Ca sales are more which is not even certified as Latin Gold for 30k. Less than "No Se Me Quita"? No Se Me Quita didn't even enter the Hot Latin Songs and only peaked 19 on Latin Digital Song Sales Chart for one week. It has a platinum. But Vente Pa' Ca which debuted at No. 1 on Latin Digital Song Sales doesn't even have a gold?! It's obvious that his label didn't pay RIAA. Anyway, I'm going to sleep now. Good night. Those are claims of his 40 million sold:

I thought Ricky Martin's sales would be 60 million. The most acceptable range than 50+ or -80/85. Anyway personally I don't will touch that topic and for both 88marcus and آرمین هویدایی about Enrique's sales concern, maybe a Spanish references could help. I found 70 million / + in a range of 2012-2014 sources, or 60 million/+ in a range of 2014-2015 sources. --

There are thousands of articles about music in wikipedia which use Billboard articles for "Background" and "Critics" parts and we cite it as the source. Regarding these edits, I am not an expert in these specific regions, but I have been editing certifications for quite a number of years, and I can't recall I heard or saw a "Platinum+Gold certification" for these regions. (El Nuevo Herald newspaper) But since you are more expert in following certifications things, I guess you know better and these are probably regular Platinum awards. @Muhandes: Some countries like Mexico and Guatemala would have Platinum+Gold certifications. Now other countries I'm not sure about but most of the times what would happen is that if let's say an album is certified gold in a country in February for 10k copies sold and then it gets certified platinum in July for 20k copies sold, that means the certification was updated but a newspaper/media would mistankenly report that the certifications as "gold and platinum" making it seem like the certifications add up instead of increasing. I know Uruguay just certifies either gold or platinum but not "platinum+gold" so that one is just a platinum certification. Some of the other countries I don't know about so I couldn't tell you right now. I will look into it but for right now I think we should keep the certifications that say "gold and platinum" as just platinum since that's the highest level for those certifications. In reply to this, I would not have removed the section had you added prose beneath it in the first place.

Template:Album ratings states that the template should be placed directly after the infobox if there is not accompanying prose. We don't create a heading for a template with no accompanying wording to go beneath it, because it just looks like an empty section. I had no idea you had only made the first edit several minutes before I edited the page. Regardless, perhaps you should have added the prose before saving the page in your first edit. I thought that the idea of inflating Ricky Martin's sales was already over on your part, but now it's back and you put the 1999 album with sales of 17 million copies, which would be giving a gap of about 5 million copies sold in countries that are small markets and whose sales would not add as much to the total amount.--

I don't have any proof, but I am pretty sure that the salsa version is the one that topped the Tropical Airplay as it was common practice for Latin record labels to have their artists record multiple versions in the 2000s to top the Latin Songs chart. Helping a bit

Hey there آرمین هویدایی (is there an Anglicized form of this name that I can call you by?). I helped a bit on "Solo Quiero Amarte" and "Tu Recuerdo" by mentioning the salsa versions of these songs. Ricky Martin has recorded more salsa versions and it's a damn shame they haven't been commercially released because they're really good. Also, on "Solo Quiero Amarte", I guess I did what you'd call a "loophole" on WP:USCHARTS, because technically "Solo Quiero Amarte" didn't rank on other Billboard genre charts besides the Latin charts. That, by the way, was the result of a year ago where I compromised adding the Latin subcharts, because I thought it was ridiculous to lump all music in Spanish as the same thing when clearly it isn't. I got the idea from FanDePopLatino when he suggested separating the music charts for the original and Spanish versions. In other Ricky Martin-related news, I'm working on songs that reached #1 on the Latin Pop and Tropical Airplay charts, so my next Ricky Martin articles will be "Vuelve" and "Perdido Sin Ti". Honestly I haven't heard their salsa versions, I will try to find them on YouTube today. Cool! There's also the salsa versions of "Tal Vez" and "Y Todo Queda en Nada" and a bachata version of "Perdoname". I don't have a source to back this up, but I'm pretty sure that's how "Tal Vez" reached #1 on the Tropical Airplay. In the 2000s and until the mid 2010s, Latin record labels would have their pop artists record different versions to reach a wider audience. That's how I know these songs exists, because they would play in my local tropical radio stations (for reference, I live in the Greater Orlando area in Florida). Right now, the project only focuses on music in Spanish or Portuguese because they are Latin-based languages of Ibero-America whereas English isn't, and since it didn't rank on the Billboard Latin Albums chart, it's not under the project scope. It would require a separate discussion because defining "Latin music" is very hard to define. One idea I have is for the first paragraph to detail what critics liked about the album and the second paragraph would be about what critics didn't like about it. For example, the first paragraph can start with "The uptempo tracks on Vuelve were met with positive reactions from critics" and the second paragraph can start with "The ballads on the record however, were met with mixed reactions and the number of ballads were criticized" or something like thought? 1989 (Taylor Swift album) and several others and all of them begin with the fact that the album received generally favorable reviews from music critics / or mixed reviews or etc. Like you already did in Vuelve. That would be a whole point of view. Then we should write the content and as I see in those examples, they don't separately say what exactly "met with positive reactions from critics" or "mixed reactions". I guess the first sentence as a whole point of view is enough, but we should separate the orders of reviews with a more organized theme, like Good Girl Gone Bad, which was also criticized somehow.
