The Three Brothers (jewel)

Nice article - would you like to put it up for

WP:DYK? I could do it if you like. Johnbod (talk) 03:55, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply
]

Absolutely, that would be wonderful - it's taken quite a while to assemble all this info, glad it can get some exposure. Thanks! -- Arcaist contribs • talk 07:35, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, is it possible to get references for the last bits of those paras that don't have them - eg the end of the later history? Any ideas for the hook? Johnbod (talk) 18:58, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good suggestion - those last sentences are also based on Humphrey 2014, which I've added. For the hook, maybe this: "DYK... that
The Three Brothers jewel was once owned by the the richest man in history before it became part of the English crown jewels, only to be lost to history when Charles I of England tried to pawn it?" Too long? Too complicated? -- Arcaist contribs • talk 19:36, 6 August 2020 (UTC)[reply
]
I think I figured out the nomination thing, should by on the DYK - it's my first nomination, so happy to hear any feedback! -- Arcaist contribs • talk 21:30, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Looks fine. Johnbod (talk) 00:01, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The article is very nice, and great work on finding such a good image. I've got some feedback on the references, and also the hooks, which needs addressing before I can accept the nomination. Warofdreams talk 12:50, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Three Brothers (jewel)

On 2 September 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Three Brothers (jewel), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Three Brothers was part of the English crown jewels for more than 90 years, but was lost to history after Charles I tried to pawn it? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Three Brothers (jewel)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

New section about student accommodation

Hi Arcaist, I am wondering if you could help to write a new section about student accommodation under the part "Student life". I think this information would be useful for new students.

Yeah, good idea - could include Pollock Halls and some other locations. Could you create a new topic on the talk page there, maybe we can get some others to pitch in too? Thanks! — Arcaist (contr—talk) 19:37, 20 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Three Brothers

The

Henrietta Maria, the wife of King Charles I, attempted to sell the jewel to raise funds for the English Civil War, but it is unclear if she succeeded. Its whereabouts after 1645 remain unknown. This miniature painting of the Three Brothers, drawn at a scale of 1:1, was commissioned by the city of Basel
to serve as an inventory but also as an advertisement to potential buyers around 1500.
