Category:South Dakota Sports Hall of Fame inductees, which you created, has been nominated for deletion. A discussion is taking place to see if it abides with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. Potential Main Article?

Even though I don't care for the category, I do think the organization is notable enough for an article. I created Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame a couple years ago if you want an (imperfect) template. In case my nomination passes, I don't want you to lose any work so here are the current articles:

Thanks, RevelationDirect (talk) 00:28, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

RevelationDirect, I appreciate the fact that you took the time to write to me. Your suggestion is certainly worth considering. I've never been particularly interested in sports; but, I do sometimes produce content to insure that my state of South Dakota is well represented on Wikipedia. My free time is extremely limited these days; but at a future date, I may consider writing the article.
In my opinion, Wikipedia articles related to regions of the United States tend to have too much "coastal bias," focusing more on the more heavily populated east and west coasts of the United States while neglecting the less densely populated Midwest and Plains regions in between. South Dakota has its own heroes and celebrities. The problem with Wikipedia is that the importance of these individuals seems to be determined by their overall notoriety. I am certainly in favor of a democratic process; but, the problem with voting on Wikipedia articles is that the differences in population density in different parts of the United States mean that most of the votes tend to come from people who live along the two coasts. The flaw in this process is that it does not give weight to the opinions of people from within different U.S. regions for which the subjects of a Wikipedia articles are more relevant.
For example, Ken Hirsch was an extremely well known media personality in South Dakota. For decades, Ken Hirsch served as the weather man on three different Sioux Falls television stations and was well known for his travel agency. Ken Hirsch was also well known for his interest in aviation (which he shared with viewers during his weather forecasts); and, he frequently served as the announcer at many local air shows. However, Ken Hirsch was not known to people in densely populated places like New York or California; and for this reason, the Wikipedia article on Ken Hirsch was quickly deleted. Ken Hirsch was very famous across most of South Dakota; but unfortunately, that apparently wasn't enough to justify a Wikipedia article about him. It is certainly understandable that Ken Hirsch would not have been well known across most of the United States; but, he is certainly still one of the better recognized media personalities in South Dakota.
Once again, thank you for your time.Brianhass (talk) 07:19, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Fiesta Foods has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article does not even have a single topic, being about three distinct companies. No independent sources, and non-notability is pretty much guaranteed because the first company has only one store, the second has three, and the third is apparently defunct.

deleted for any of several reasons

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -Crossroads- (talk) 07:56, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Rusf10, You are incorrect. The PBS-HD Channel did indeed exist and was launched on March 1, 2004 for the purpose of broadcasting high definition wide-screen content 24/7. If you had done a simple search, you would have come across this information for yourself. My local PBS affiliate carried this channel during the transition period from analog to digital.Brianhass (talk) 15:22, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The Caribou Show was not a local public access show. It was South Dakota's first locally made sketch comedy television show, which was broadcast throughout eastern South Dakota on KDLT-TV. It was broadcast over the air and not limited to a local cable TV system. It was produced by Caribou Productions, which went on to produce a nature series for South Dakota Public Broadcasting.
