Survey on quality control policies
As part of a project funded by the European Commission (QLectives), we are collecting and analysing data to study quality control mechanisms and inclusion/deletion policies in Wikipedia. According to our records, you participated in a large number of AfD. We are currently soliciting editors with a long record of participation in AfD discussions to send us their feedback via a very informal survey.
The survey takes less than 5 minutes and is available at this URL. Should you have any questions about this project, feel free to get in touch.

Hello. As a contributor to this article (or more precisely, to
Plague Dogs ending
I appreciate your (and vorfeed's) sincere request for more information re the absence of the last chapter in any edition of the novel.
The fact is I have little hard evidence that an edition ending with the penultimate chapter actually exists. What I do know is that author Richard Adams stated in an interview that the eventual ending was championed by his editor upon original submission of the manuscript. According to the interview, after disastrous test readings, Adams reluctantly succumbed to the need for a revised denouement. I also recall (with less veracity) that he later modified the last chapter to mitigate its admitted contrivance, which may explain vorfeed's edition that omits the chapter title "Deus ex Machina," the colloquy with the reader, and Lockley's Who's Who entry (although it can be argued their addition had the opposite effect).
Martin Rosen, the producer of the film version which retains the ambiguous conclusion, also stated in an interview that he "felt the unfettered finale was more appropriate and true to the consistency of the tone of the film." Whether that implies it ever existed as the finale in book form is likewise ambiguous, I agree. The only other shred of proof I could dig up is the insistence of several readers on the web that they have (or recall) editions without the happy ending. (Poor form, I admit.)
I figured a compromise was to allude to the contrivance as an "addendum," nonetheless acknowledging its existence as the "official" ending. Of course, if either of you feel this is fantasy rationalization, I would not take any re-edit of my contribution as a personal affront. :-D –TashTish (talk) 17:15, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

1911 Encyclopedia Britannia
Hi, the chances of you remembering or reconstituting this edit are slim, but I'll ask anyway!
The Herbert Hope Risley article is one of several bio articles that I am fettling at present, related via their connection to anthropologists of the British Raj. There is no problem in improving these things but a common issue is the use of the {{1911}} template without specifying the Britannica article that was referenced.
In this particular instance, I have been through the relevant EB volumes for Risley's name, through the Index volume and through the Anthropology section. I've also done a general search across the volumes (arguably a method of dubious merit, but my experience suggests around 70-75% successful). I can't find a mention of Risley anywhere except in connection with an article about Caste - and that has no biographical information.
Is it possible that the info which you added came from somewhere else? My bet would be the introduction to the William Crooke edition of The People of India, which certainly mentions all of the bio info that was in the article at the point where you inserted the content in the diff. I am inclined to remove the template from the article because it looks unlikely to apply now, given my ongoing work, but there may be attribution issues unless I can prove the point. - Sitush (talk) 08:42, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, don't worry about the above. I have spoken to some people and the template can now be removed. Sorry to have bothered you. - Sitush (talk) 11:33, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Wow, I didn't know I could send someone a kitten on Wikipedia. I hope you like cats! I'm a librarian at Carnegie-Stout Public Library in Dubuque. One of my co-workers was excited to find that our blog is linked off of the Wikipedia article for the film F.I.S.T. Just for fun, I dug through the edit history to see who put the link there. If I'm reading this right, it was you. Thanks! Have a kitten!

As explained in article, he is JP Miller, not J. P. Miller. Pepso2 (talk) 10:28, 27 May 2012 (UTC)
- I like to use authoritative sources, and many of them have it otherwise. This includes his LA Times and NY Times obits, his rights clearance listing at Dramatists Play Service, and although less authoritative, indications from IMDB that he was credited on screen as "JP Miller" as few as three times out of eighteen produced scripts. How would you suggest resolving this discrepancy? --Dhartung | Talk 06:14, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
