Formatting - episode names

Hello... thank you for the work you're doing on Doctor Who articles. Please keep in mind, however, that episode names should be in quotation marks ("Rose"), while titles of television series/shows are italicized (Doctor Who). Cheers! --Ckatzchatspy 21:57, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Checking the Manual of Style, I see that you are correct.
Dmforcier 16:55, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, the Doctor Who articles are a bit confusing at present, as they are in the midst of switching from a custom formatting to the Wikipedia standard. (For years, DW articles have been using italics for episode names.) There is a discussion about the formatting on the Doctor Who project page. Thanks again. --Ckatzchatspy 17:15, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just posted a question about formatting story names on the main article discussion page. Please weigh in or post a ref to the project discussion there. Dmforcier 17:23, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I pointed that topic to the project discussion and made my views known. Dmforcier 18:14, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Worcestershire sauce

I do not understand why my edit was reverted. Could you please explain? Shouldn't the proper name be used like it is throughout the article? Erianna (talk) 08:42, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The proper name - and trademark - is "Lea & Perrins", not "Lea and Perrins". Dmforcier (talk) 22:41, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Since - as you state - the reversion did not affect those references, what is your problem? That I didn't make the inapplicable distinction in the one-sentence explanation? Can we move on now? Dmforcier (talk) 01:54, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have a problem with you personally, I was just pointing it out. It wasn't an inapplicable distinction. You posted an automated warning on this user's talk page, and responded here, without actually explaining what he/she did wrong. Ponydepression (talk) 23:56, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FOOD
Needs You!

Hi there Dmforcier! I've noticed you have yourself listed as a

Food and Drink Wikiproject
. Unfortunately it looks like the project has been slowly sliding into inactivity except for a couple of people. That makes me a sad potato, and nobody likes a sad potato amirite?

If you'd like to turn my frown upside down, can you do two small things?

First off, go

here and add {{Tick
}} (checkY) next to your name if you're still part of the project.

Second, go to the project talkpage and participate in a discussion about how to make the project more active, and how to go about making articles in our area of interest a lot better.

You don't want to make me cry, do you? Potatoes have a lot of eyes you know. So come on, join in! :)

A "fixed-gear" bike has no freewheel mechanism, and normally does not have a brake (braking is done by applying retarding pressure on the pedals). The gear must rotate with the wheel. I think the intention of the sentence was to indicate a bike with a single gear freewheel, but still with no brake. This is an odd setup, and requires the mentioned foot-dragging method to slow down. Rollback granted

Hi Dmforcier. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing
    Twinkle
    .
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of
    good faith edits
    .
  • Rollback should never be used to
    edit war
    .
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see

RE: that IP

Can you please assume good faith with the IP editor on talk:Bicycle brake? Because if you keep needling them, they're going to say something hostile back to you. Then you're going to respond in kind. Then we have a personal conflict, over nothing. Nobody else wants to read two editors bickering. It's pretty obvious from the IP's edit history that they know what they're doing and they have chosen not to register an account. I think creating an account is a good idea, but pestering them about it is pointless. Removing their comments is inappropriate. If they want to help improve the article, that's a good thing. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 01:59, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming good faith does not mean accepting every edit. I stand by my rejection of the new section. And kindly justify your use of the verb "needling". I simply requested that the editor get an account. This constitutes needling??
Now, there was a little method to my madness. Please encourage your protege to start the suggested Coaster Brake article. Bicycle Brakes really needs to be decomposed as it loads up with every conceivable fact. This may be a start. Dmforcier (talk)

December 2016

Information icon Hi Dmforcier, you keep removing Template:Trump media from the article Where My Country Gone? while that article clearly is about a Trump media appearance and established consensus to be included in the template. Please stop your disruptive removals. Thank you. --SI 07:00, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • And there seems something wrong with your
signature [1][2][3][4], could you pls check and fix that? Thx again. --SI 07:47, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply
    ]
Donald Trump does not appear in the episode! Therefore your use of the template is inappropriate and I will continue to revert it. Dmforcier (talk)
Hi Dmforcier, good that we come to talk about it. At first I want to say sorry that my reverts were without comment, because it was hard to see good faith in them and I am still not so common with Twinkle. That said, I still don't agree with your edits, because in my understanding an appearance certainly includes parodies and animated series where the "appearance" is not an appearance in person, but impersonated and parodied. The template {{Trump media}} contains more of those instances, so I feel sure that other editors will agree. (p.s. I have copied this to Talk:Where My Country Gone? for appropriate contributor interaction.)
Once more, please fix your signature [5] [6] as
WP:SIGNATURE is an official behavioral guideline. Thank you. --SI 22:11, 6 December 2016 (UTC) p.s. Please also fix your past incomplete signatures, you can for example use Template:undated for that. --SI 22:30, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply
]
FYI there are two forms of signature, one with four tildes and one with three, the shorter form. I use the short form in a conversation after I have already used the long form. There is nothing wrong with my sig.
Yes, let's see what other editors say. Dmforcier (talk)
